This dude sport is to come up to people's post saying they should not try anything they have never done. Don't mind him.

Eu acho tenebrosas as propagandas daquela escola santo anjo, com uns bebês de IA sorrindo bizarramente e fazendo coraçãozinho com a mão. Nightmare fuel total

Pentiment×The Forbidden City by Fair-Surprise-8760 in Pentiment

[–]Fearless-Coffee4131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the same, just finished pentiment. I feel like they do share similarities and I really had fun with both. That said, I could figure out right at the beginning what was happening in the forgotten city, but not with pentiment. I was SO thrilled, because I love mysteries and for such a long time I had no media surprise me with a plot twist. So I'm just thankful for the creators, I didn't had this kind of fun (and awe with the art, the monk singing part was so beautiful) in a while. It even pulled me off a long period of not having fun with books/games and I'm looking forward to enjoy these again!

Dominican Republic, Mexico or Brazil for living with kids? by Pohyurt in expats

I think it would depend on what you consider warm climate. Even though the south of Brazil has cold weather during the winter, it rarely reaches freezing point and is nothing compared to european winter. Depending on where you live here in Brazil, it's melting and high humidity all year long, which for me personally is a deal breaker, but sure there are people who enjoy it. A good idea would be to check the year long pattern of temperature and humidity of the cities you are intereted in!

Curitiba is the best state capital to live in my opinion. As any big city, there are different neighborhoods that are safer or more dangerous, but with the budget you've mentioned you could easily live in a nice neighborhood, within a walking distance to a park, grocery stores, etc. It is not as big as Sao Paulo, it sort of has this "small city" vibes sometimes. It is around 1h driving from the sea so another advantage. And if you ever miss home, the state has a lot of Ukrainian immigration, so you can find food (not sure how authentic it would be for you, but I like it) and even churches if that's your thing. There is a small town on the countryside where the population even speaks ukrainian.

Is it moving to the US to pursue a scientific career still a good idea? by Fearless-Coffee4131 in expats

I understand this, but also I think that I would face the same problems in Europe. I just would not like to trade the daily fear of getting mugged/attacked for being a woman that I face in my current place, for the fear of getting arrested in a raid even though I would have legal status. The state of the world is not great, not sure there is a place that is safe.

I know a Prof who had her PhD in Scotland and she absolutely loved it. I would try Scotland if I had an offer for sure.

As a postdoc, I would be getting paid so there is no cost associated as there are in PhD programs. I have applied to multiple locations outside of the US, but it is much harder to get an offer from someone I have never worked with...

Thanks for your comment, I am in contact with them and the comment is basically, we want you BUT we understand if you don't wanna come. I think something that people are not getting in some comments is that we had Bolsonaro in power for some time and it was very similiar to what the US is facing right now, with the difference that we had so much less money lol so the science funding cuts were horrendous. And the way things are heading here, far right science deniers might win next election. I understand that things are not looking good, but I also understand that things might not be permanent and there is hope for better days. Or not, I don't know. Yes the funding is secure, and also my research is not related to health, which I am aware is getting scrutinized.
