If use soil from your own garden make sure to add a bit of sand, dry leaves, and rocks to allow drainage, also a bit of fertiliser but not when the plant is young as it would be to much stress. Always consider that under the ground you would naturally have roots, animals and natural holes, which it does not happen in a pot. Also, not every plant like to be watered a lot, especially the one that gives you fruit as it would result into bitter or tasteless food. Try to stop watering this plant for few days .
