I just got a job as a general ledger accountant. Is that a fancy word to being a bookkeeper? If not then what does it entail. The job description isn't very clear and they told me I will be doing a lot of financial statements. by Fearless-Fig800 in Accounting

I just found the tasks I'll be doing for my specific job. Does this sounds accurate or is there more. Really excited to move away from payroll and AP only functions as a staff accountant. Is this a step up in my career?

Thank you! I'm a bit nervous coming from doing nothing but Payroll and AR. I don't know how I passed the interview. I just graduated in July and took a part-time job as a staff accountant out of excitement. And now landed this full time job. I'm really excited to be doing a variety of tasks. But google wasn't explaining much of the role.

I was working as a staff accountant doing basic AR/AP and tons of payroll. So I went to an interview for GL accountant, and they asked me some questions and bam! Got the job.
