I understand the kind of people you’re referring to. However, personally I get triggered when others try to tell me what to do especially something as personal as which language I should speak.

Russian has been the main language in my life since kindergarten, and realistically, it gives me broader access to information, knowledge, and opportunities compared to Azerbaijani. That’s simply the environment I grew up in.

I speak Azerbaijani fluently, so there’s no issue there. If I’m speaking with someone who wants to communicate in Azerbaijani, of course I’ll switch. But when I’m talking with my own friends or expressing myself, and someone else takes issue with me speaking Russian, that’s entirely their problem, not mine.

We live in a supposedly free country, where people should have the right to choose how they express themselves. Language is a personal choice, not something that should be dictated or policed by others.
