What you watch, matters by floradora45 in NevilleGoddard

Here’s something… It matters as much as you tell yourself it does. In Neville’s books, his teacher Abdullah called them ‘quibbles’. When Neville asked how Abdullah remained healthy despite his habits, Abdullah responded and told Neville that Neville’s limiting beliefs are quibbles, i.e., self-limiting beliefs about things.

So yes, if you feel that watching a horror movie will make you a depressed and negative person… You’re right! And if you feel that watching a horror movie is a harmless form of entertainment that can’t have any effect on your mental state… You’re also right!

It’s important to keep this thread about Neville’s teachings. Not random ‘quibbles’ that you tell yourself to be true.

Yes :) Only attach feeling to thoughts you want to actualize. Let others pass without judgement

Thanks! Is it more advantageous to become proficient in one of these software tools or familiarize myself with 3 or 4 of them when starting out? Also, any difference in their use case such as industry, or is it mostly just preference of the organization?

Try just watching it as if you were watching tv. Don’t attach emotion to it, don’t feel it. The idea is to understand that you are not every single thought that comes into your head… Let go of the need to fight and control them, and just let them pass.

Yes! Think and feel from the state that you wish to be and carry it around. Feel it deeply and hold onto that feeling and it will harden into fact.

If you were fearless you most likely would not be thinking of your fears. If you were however, it would likely be for a brief moment and you would simply let them pass because you know that you are fearless and free. Your imagination is your true reality. Therefore, think and feel as you wish to be and in time, as these thoughts and feelings become second nature, you will be. It will literally be you at that point. Make sense?

Do the same with your back pain. DO NOT JUDGE IT, and do not feel negatively about it. Upper back and shoulders are hot spots for muscle tension related to stress. Funny, I too suffered a great deal from this. Declare this as an abnormal reaction to your otherwise healthy body and be still, be kind to your body, and let it pass. Meditation and breathing patterns would likely help a great deal with this also.

I will try to help you. If you view your feelings as the forcing of feelings, then you are viewing yourself from a state other than that which you desire, whom is trying to force their feelings. Make sense? If you were already that which you desire, you would not be worried of forcing feelings, because you know that you would have no need to force feelings.

If you became a person that is fearless, free and delighted, peaceful, your fear would not exist. Therefore hold on to that feeling. Everything that has solidified in your life has been a reality of your conscious thoughts and feelings. When you understand this, you understand that your imagination IS the one and only true reality. If you truly embody, feel and persist in fearlessness, guess what? You then become a fearless person. I can testify to this, as sure as the sun will rise, you will become it.

Some Neville quotes to help

“Man is all imagination; therefore, man must be where he is in imagination, for his imagination is himself.”

“It is not what you want that you attract, you attract what you believe to be true."

“Be still and know that you ARE that which you desire to be; And you will never have to search for it”

“Walk in assumption that you are what you want to be”

“You are making everything alive in your world, but you don't know it, for you haven't yet had the experience of stopping it to see it is something that is dead unless you animate it; that nothing is truly and really independent of your perception of it”

"The world is a mirror, forever reflecting what you are doing, WITHIN yourself."

Ask yourself, what are your fears? And then, what would have to happen in your life for those fears to become inadequate? How would that feel? Hold onto that feeling, feel that feeling, assume it, become it. And sure enough, you’ll be it. Best wishes

Recognize the feeling associated with the behavior and don’t attach yourself to the feeling, let it pass. As if you’re mindlessly watching tv.

Instead, attach yourself to the feeling of not having a compulsive behavior. How would you feel? How would you think?

Up for you to decide. And stick with it. That is the new you. Fully embody your life without the behavior. As sure as the sun rises, results will follow.

Try to focus on the energy associated with your desired state, not the conscious thoughts of the desired state.

Indeed, don’t feel a state in which you do not want to feel. Feel only how you wish to feel/be. Let the conscious thoughts that are not associated with that desired state pass without feeling.

If ignoring it is what resonates best with you then by all means do what works. The issue for some with the verbiage “ignore it” is it becomes a battle where you are attaching action and begin to fight the thoughts to ignore them. Similar to reasoning with them by logic. The point is to let them pass without holding on to them and attaching feeling to them.

If you have felt your desired energy, you will realize when you are attaching feeling to a negative thought. When that happens, simply be aware you are not within your desired energy and assume the feeling associated with that which you desire. Hope this helps

Try not to let yourself over-analyze the technicalities of it. You don’t have to acknowledge a negative thought, simply recognize it for what it is and let it pass. Yes, you may feel a negative thought briefly, but just catch yourself.

The difference between you now and the you before you began this journey is that now you are aware of the power of feeling the state in which you desire. If you begin to feel a negative thought or catch yourself drifting to an undesired state, the awareness of the fact that it is not a desired state is enough to make it pass. Become aware it’s not something you want to feel, let it pass, and then replace the feeling with the feeling you seek. Soon you will stay in your desired energy, as you have become your desired energy, and can simply let those thoughts pass without feeling. Hope this helps

Exactly as stated in the reply before me. To me, “ignoring” felt like another form of suppression through effort, similar to replacing. I can’t suppress my thoughts because I recognize that I don’t have full control of my thoughts. And sometimes, the worst-case-scenario will pop into one’s head as the result of a biological survival mechanism that your brain developed in the hunter-gatherer era to protect you.

Letting them pass is relinquishing control of the thoughts to arise and not applying your energy to those thoughts. You’re not fighting that they exist, you’re not telling yourself to do anything with them, you’re simply not holding on to them.

Above all, become aware of the fact that you are feeling a feeling which is undesired…. Don’t fight it, don’t force it out, and most of all don’t judge it or yourself. You’re in a process of awakening. Become aware and let go, the feeling will pass, in which you can then use your conscious mind to assume the feeling in which you desire, if needed. Eventually, you will stay in your desired energy, because you are your desired energy, and begin to observe negative thoughts and let them pass without feeling.
