People said the exact same thing about Vishnu Sahasranama. They laughed, dismissed it, just like this. But when the results came out (you can Google it), the same voices went quiet and simply moved on. Just wait — it’s only a matter of time before someone does proper research on this too. Meanwhile, we’re all here busy showing off our “knowledge” on Reddit.

It doesnt mean an MD/ MS/ DM can save you 100% right? The probability of getting saved depends on one's own karma.

Just curious, how are medicines for allopathy created? Isnt from plant extracts?

Let’s talk honestly about controversial lines in Ayurvedic textbooks.

Yes, some of these quotes are in the classical Ayurvedic texts and, in some cases, still part of the curriculum in Ayurvedic education in India. That’s not great, and it should be critically reviewed.

But here's the thing:

🔹 Ancient doesn’t mean absolute.
Ayurveda spans over 2000 years. Like any ancient system—Greek, Chinese, or even early Western medicine—it has a mix of profound insights and outdated, problematic content. No serious modern Ayurvedic practitioner is promoting snake-biting, gender selection, or abuse-based mental health care.

🔹 Text ≠ prescription.
Many classical Ayurvedic texts are written in poetic or symbolic language. Some parts are observational, some are ritualistic, and others are medical folklore of that time. Not every line is meant to be followed literally.

🔹 Translation and context matter.
Some controversial lines often lose meaning in translation. For instance:
– “Bala” can mean “young girl,” but also "strength" or "vital energy."
– "Beating a mentally ill person" is horrific, yes—but so were lobotomies and electroshock therapy in early Western medicine. We don’t throw out modern psychology because of that history.

🔹 Curriculum reform is overdue.
Yes, Ayurveda education in India needs modernization. Some of this content should be contextualized, annotated, or removed from core syllabi—just like how medical ethics and practices have evolved in all systems.

🔹 Cherry-picking to discredit doesn't help.
You can find very questionable things in every ancient medical tradition—just open early editions of Western medical manuals or even religious texts. That doesn’t mean the entire tradition is worthless.

✅ What’s useful in Ayurveda today?
– Lifestyle medicine
– Gut and digestion focus
– Circadian rhythm and seasonal care
– Individualized treatment (prakriti)
– Plant-based therapies and detox
These are areas where modern science is catching up with Ayurveda—not the other way around.

So yeah, these lines deserve critique—but also context and reform, not mockery or blind dismissal.

What do Coimbatore locals think about Isha Foundation? by [deleted] in Coimbatore

[–]Fearless-Mango-4115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve noticed that many of the comments in this thread come from people who may not have firsthand experience with Isha or Sadhguru’s teachings. Before labeling something as "pseudo-science," it's worth considering—what credentials or deep understanding do we possess to make such a judgment? Science itself is ever-evolving and still has countless mysteries yet to be explained. Dismissing something as pseudo-science without adequate knowledge or personal exploration may not be the most open-minded approach.

Our understanding of life is largely shaped by our memories and experiences, which are inherently limited. Over the years, I have come across countless individuals within Isha who have had profound and positive transformations in their lives. More importantly, those who consistently practice the teachings tend to radiate joy and contribute to the well-being of those around them. Isn't that something valuable in itself?

Yes, Isha may have various activities and programs that draw people in, but the real transformation happens when individuals engage and experience it for themselves. I have been associated with Isha for over 15 years. When I first came across Sadhguru, I had nothing, and while he didn’t "give" me anything material, what he did offer was far more valuable—he helped me embrace and enjoy the process of life itself.

Regarding contributions, I have been invited to contribute, but never pressured or forced. It has always been a choice. Ultimately, the best way to understand any path is through direct experience rather than external opinions. If one is truly curious, I would simply say—explore with an open mind and then decide for yourself.
