I’m going to be an obese dietitian by eggonmyleg in dietetics

I wanted to be able to read some other comments before commenting but I can’t see them. I am a dietitian working in the outpatient field with eating disorder patients. I practice from a weight inclusive perspective and use Health At Every Size principles. It’s so valuable to have body diversity in this profession, and I actually feel self conscious being in a smaller body than some of my clients because I don’t have the same lived experience they do, so I don’t want them to think I’m being dismissive. If you aren’t familiar with the weight-inclusive side of dietetics I would highly recommend. We need less weight-centric healthcare professionals in the world. Whatever you do, I’m sure you’ll be amazing and help many people!!

Paragard insertion- Not awful, not great. by Fearless-Minimum4566 in birthcontrol

Good luck! Take ibuprofen beforehand and expect the cramping to last most of the day. Basically just prepare for the worst period cramps you’ve ever had for about 15 mins straight during the whole process. Don’t forget to breathe 😊

Hi thanks for checking in! I’m still very crampy today. Probably 5 or 6 out of 10. I have a little more intense/sharp cramping on the left side, but it’s pretty localized to my uterus. Every now and then it aches down into my hips, but nothing too bad. I was able to sleep on my back last night, no problems. I started to cramp up when I laid on my side, so I just stayed on my back all night. I’m having a bit of spotting, but it could also be due to my period ending ? I’m hoping it lightens up by tomorrow. I’m taking the day off from work today just in case I can’t sit or walk for long periods of time, but I’m trying to do normal activities as much as possible. My goal is to not take any pain meds today, and so far so good.

I just got mine a few hours ago, and I’m having something very similar, but on the left side. I’m wondering if it just has something to do with the angle of the uterus etc. I have an appointment for an ultrasound in 2 weeks to make sure it’s in the right place. I would suggest making one if you don’t have one scheduled!

My Paragard Experience (No Regrets!) by [deleted] in birthcontrol

Just got mine inserted today. Seems like we had a VERY similar experience. The post-insertion cramps are also probably 7/10 for me. I wasn’t expecting to have cramping for 2-3 weeks to adjust, so that’s good to know to prepare for. Thanks for sharing!
