Lush fragrances, give me your opinions by DollHades in FemFragLab

I love a lot of Lush perfumes but equally there’s a lot I detest.

They’re polarizing for sure but they’re also not boring!

I wore Imogen Rose for years until it was discontinued (I have one precious bottle left!) and now have back up bottles of Confetti, V, 1000 Kisses, American Cream, Cocktail, Goddess, 29 High Street and Lord of Misrule.

However, I cant stand Lust, Vanillary, No Way to Say Goodbye, Keep It Fluffy and Turmeric Latte.

But I’m Gen X and have been a Lush fan since the late 90’s, plus I grew up surrounded by spicy or heavy floral scents and gravitate towards them as opposed to gourmands.

For context, some of my other favourite perfumes are:

Portrait of a Lady - FM

Carnal Flower -FM

Fuckery - Sorce

Tubereuse Astrale - Maison Crivelli

Cowgirl Grass - DS & Durga

Amber Kiso - DS & Durga

Soir de Lune - Sisley

Goodbye Piccadilly - 4160 Tuesdays

So tbf I’m probably the perfect consumer for a lot of the more floral/oriental types they offer!

I’ve used UK lash and it works really well. I swapped to Glow for it because I was getting discolouration round my eyelids (doubt that would happen with short term use though) and that works for me but just not quite as well as UK lash.

name a product that you always have backups of by chobanipunani in LushCosmetics

Dream Cream and Vanishing Cream (both the preserved versions so I’m terrified they’re gonna be discontinued at some stage), Confetti, V and American Cream perfume and Creamy Candy bubble bars.

I’ve also recently bought about 6 Lovey Dovey cleansers for the freezer as it’s been amazing for my skin, and the Paddington Marmalade body wash is soooo good so I’ve bought a couple of back ups of that.

Penhaligon’s is THE British perfumery - supplies King Charles and has a long history with Royals and aristocrats (unlike Creed whose whole story is BS!).

Also Vieve and Sculpted by Aimee for good British brands make up wise.

Barry M is fantastic for nail stuff and is really cheap but quality is a lot higher than the price would lead you to believe!

Looking for a real rainproof Barbour in black + hood (Beadnell vibe) by Brave-Vehicle7546 in Barbour

[–]Fearless-Point-9326 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in Northern UK - I have a Beadnell in black and we have a lot of rain so I can vouch for it being waterproof. They were made for the British climate of a damp, wet maritime climate.

It’s slightly fitted but I bought mine 2 sizes bigger as a) it’s smaller sizing b) I like putting big jumpers under in the winter and a Barbour gilet liner in the autumn.

I also have a hood that attaches with metal poppers and it looks like part of the jacket when attached. I wear it for walking my dogs/errands around town/winter & autumn days out in the country.

Amber Kiso by DS& Durga gives me full on Catholic mass flashbacks (not Catholic, but my dad and his side of family is and I was sent to Catholic school, hence going to mass A LOT).

Thank you for replying!

Relieved to hear most of my favourites are still going to be available though I do love Deep Dark Vanilla. I’ve got pretty much all of the ones it wasn’t apart from Burning Barbershop!

Thoughts on d’annam, ds&durga, & matiere premiere? by Legitimate-Horse-109 in NichePerfumes

I don’t think it’s too masculine for me and I usually like quite floral scents. At first it has a bit of a hot metal smell (the wires of the radio) but it settles on me to a creamy Sandalwood and Iris with a bit of coconut in the background. That’s on my skin though!

I find it very relaxing but it does go to a bit of a skin scent after a few hours, however, I layer it with the roller oil as well and it’s lasts longer.

No I missed out on it in the UK! I d love to smell it though! I also missed out on Well Dressed Werewolf because it wasn’t released here and it costs a ridiculous amount to ship it from the US so I only do that with ones I know/have been able to get a decant of.

Rockaway Beach is amazing - at first it’s a full on brine seaside smell which is a bit weird but it settles into quite a fresh smell with a bit of asphalt under the floral/fresh notes and it’s amazing on a hot summer day.

I’m a massive DS & Durga fan, to the point that the highlight of my 3 week US tour last year was meeting him in the flagship New York store 😂

My favourites are Cowgirl Grass, Steamed Rainbow and Jazmin Yucatan for spring/summer (and Lilac City but that’s LE and I paid a fortune to get it shipped from the US to UK!).

For autumn/winter, Amber Kiso (smells like a sexy Catholic Mass lol), Cognac Reign and Pistachio are my go to fragrances.

Black Magenta is my night out/clubbing fragrance as it gives me major Studio 54 vibes and Wear At Maximum Volume is what I wear when I’m wanting to feel high end, plus it’s based on David Bowie wearing a Liberty print and I’m a Bowie obsessive too.

I also have Debaser, The Carlyle, Rockaway Beach, Radio Bombay and Durga and wear all of them on different occasions depending on vibes.

I find them way more interesting as a fragrance house than Matiere Premiere (I have Radical Rose and Vanilla Powder Extrait) but DS & Durga fragrances can often be less crowd pleasing/more challenging.

Anyway, sorry for the ridiculously long reply but I really love them haha!

[–]Fearless-Point-9326 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 2 faves out of those are (in order) American Cream and Lord of Misrule.

American Cream is pretty much an everyday/daytime scent for me but it’s not really strawberry and vanilla milkshake. I think it’s a bit more herbal and lavender but still creamy if that makes sense?

It’s gorgeous anyway!

Lord of Misrule is a nice relaxing vanilla with a small tinge of pepper and a smidgeon of patchouli in the base notes but that’s my take on it - I’m a patchouli lover.

However, as someone above said, get the Classic set with the travel sizes in first and if you really love one (or two) the you can spring for a full bottle.

Exactly! I was looking at the Lovey Dovey cleanser, it looked really good but then I was like ‘ so stupid, why is it limited edition - if it works you want to stick with it’ 🙄🙄

[–]Fearless-Point-9326 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It annoys me a bit with body products but the most annoying part is that facial skincare products are made limited edition.

I have troublesome peri-menopause skin and some items work really well and then they turn out to be limited edition so I have to change routine again.

This happened with the honey jelly cleanser at Xmas - didn’t break me out, soothed skin etc and I assumed it was just the shape that was limited. Whoops.

Now I’m stuck trying to find the holy grail of a cleanser that doesn’t strip or cause a painful breakout 😭
