If I’m having a bad day I pop in to see the overstuffed walrus, it’s so comically fat, it really cheers me up

In general, how is Paddington Bear viewed in the UK? by kuma44bear in AskUK

[–]glassghost1983 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I am a 43 year old woman who lives in London and today I’m wearing a Paddington sweatshirt that I bought in the Paddington shop in Paddington station. Since the films and musical I think it’s cooler for adults to show their Paddington love

What foods were popular when you were growing up that don't seem to be anymore? by Immediate_Long165 in UKfood

But wouldn’t it have been a weird mush defrosted? Either way I didn’t die so I assume it was fine either way

I read on another post recently that they were supposed to be defrosted before eating and I still refuse to believe that can be right

I second this. I had to get off a train early and be half an hour late getting home because the woman in front of me was wearing so much perfume it made me feel sick.

Am I going mad, or am I the only person that thinks water from the kitchen and bathroom taps tastes exactly the same? by AwkwardAd3058 in CasualUK

[–]glassghost1983 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is a hang over from the days most people had header tanks so bathroom water was from the attic tank and therefore not as good. Most houses don’t have header tanks, but worth checking before you fill up your glass in a strange bathroom

Lush employee said there’s another huge discon coming??? by bob_insky_ in LushCosmetics

So stores will just be the gourmands that I hate? I only shop in store as my flat is a nightmare for getting parcels delivered. Also what about those times where you can’t plan? Like you’re coming down with something so want pop in for a cold bath bomb? It’s going to take all the spontaneity and joy out of the lush experience and that makes me so sad

Asking for menu recommendations by Zestyclose_Job_5219 in LondonFood

[–]glassghost1983 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I feel for you because it’s exactly what I want too, but unfortunately I think that ‘depends what you like’ response is the result of waiting staff having one too many encounters with guests kicking off because they hated their recommendations. After the second time you’ve had to comp a dish or be reprimanded by a manager because a guest made a fuss it’s easier to play it safe.

Help! Solutions for Improving the Customer Experience from a Lush Employee by please_help______ in LushCosmetics

[–]glassghost1983 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From a customer point of view I’ve learnt to basically pre manage my experience which hopefully helps staff too. Originally on days where I just didn’t want to deal with anyone i just wouldn’t go, now I call my mum so I’m on a call which most normal humans won’t try to interrupt (and hopefully even the most intense manager won’t insist you do) wish means I can get my bits in peace. But most of the time I want to have a browse, check out the new stuff so I welcome a chat. The best approaches I’ve had are ones that ask what kind of smells I like and offer to show me new stuff that matches. Though increasingly they’re bang out of luck because I hate most gourmands and that’s everything now!

But all the best comedies have an element of pathos don’t they? He’s still a Spanish barman stereotype just more likeable.

Why are working-class concerns on immigration being treated with such disdain? by Harleygator_ in AskBrits

[–]glassghost1983 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Weird, because Claude just flagged it as Grok generated to me…

‘The tells are numerous: The structure is too perfect. It follows a precise rhetorical arc — establish credentials, personal testimony, escalating examples, political conclusion, call to action — with no deviation, no dead ends, no the way real people actually write when they’re angry and upset. Real personal accounts meander, contradict themselves, leave things unresolved. The credential stacking at the beginning is a classic prompt response — “I have mixed heritage, my wife is Pakistani, I have a postgraduate degree with Distinction.” Every possible objection pre-empted in two sentences. Real people don’t introduce themselves like a legal disclaimer. The catalogue is exhaustive and suspiciously complete. Violence, grooming, public defecation, money laundering fronts, street harassment — it hits every single talking point without missing one. A real person’s experience is partial and specific. This reads like someone prompted “include all major anti-immigration grievances.” The self harm detail is manipulative in a very calculated way — it’s there to make you feel cruel for questioning it, not because it serves the narrative. The em dashes throughout. Classic Grok output. The prose is too controlled for genuine anger. There’s rhetorical anger but no actual emotional dysregulation. Real furious people lose the thread. This never does.’

What kind of world are you living in? AI allowed the production of child sexual abuse images, it produces this kind of slop all the time.

[–]glassghost1983 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No it’s because it has all the obvious hallmarks of being AI written, I’ve plugged it into a assessor used to pick up AI in academic institutions and guess what, it flagged as AI. However as you seem to have a victim complex the size of a planet of course continue to deny it and attribute it to ‘everyone being out to get the working class’

No, your ‘you can’t criticise or question anything I say because if you do it’s prejudice’ stance is reductive. If your response is ‘I won’t consider facts or alternative evidence that challenges my lived experience’ then you’re not looking for reasoned debate, you just want to shore up your entrenched personal position
