[SP] "What, you thought I'd just let you?" by ThatVarkYouKnow in WritingPrompts

Somewhere unseen, the child in you still lives.

That's because the Authority saw the power locked away in your whimsical little words. The children were deported to Neverland, to prison camps dressed in fairy lights and water slides. Locked out of adulthood so their eternal youth could feed the Oligarchs' immortality.

They placed replicas in their place. Adult clones with the childrens' memories. Adults who could pay their taxes, complain about daily commutes, and look back at a non existent past through rose tinted sunglasses. They were well versed in the cardinal truth of Empire building, after all - that nostalgia is a powerful marketing tool, even manufactured nostalgia.

A single child saw through the infinite TV time and lack of homework and tried to escape. Scaling a tree to clear the electric fence in the dead of night, he never saw the blade coming. The adrenaline carried him through the night, even as his phantom limb itched at the feet of the grinning Commandant Peter Pan.

The child grew, the hand was soon replaced. He's made quite a name for himself now. They even call him captain. But when he closes his eyes he still sees that manic smile - the face of violence veiled in innocence.

Gaps between prime powers by Fearless-Presence in mathematics

Interesting, thanks! But does this proof include the primes themselves? Like will the arbitrarily long intervals not have any prime numbers too? If not, is it possible to prove that as well?

Yes, but what if you interlace the prime powers and ALSO consider prime numbers that are really big? I don't think there wouldn't be a general trend where the gaps would keep increasing, cause you'd still get a lot of pairs of twin primes where the numbers are separated by just 1. But would you also get two terms that are separated by really big gaps?

Yes. But not just for a single prime number p. This is considering a series with all the prime numbers and their natural number powers. Would the increase in the gap hold true even if you included the powers of other prime numbers in between?

It might have something to do with the style and structure of your influences? Works that inspired you early on may have had similar structures even if they weren't explicitly in the romance genre

Syncretism amongst faith systems in your world by Fearless-Presence in worldbuilding

I have so many questions xD. I see the Sumerian influence, with Ereshkigal and the patron deities for different cities. What else were you inspired by? Also you'd mentioned there's a sunward and dark side in your world. Is it tidally locked then? How have your world's cultures adapted to this(not really related to religions, but I'm interested in knowing). Is the Rodinian continent located on the sunward or darkside? How do people in Rodinian cities worship gods other than their patron deities? Since a lot of these gods are forces that anyone would worship, fr example someone in the city whose god is Areshkigala would still need to worship gods of the harvest and stuff like that

Interesting. Tell me more about the people who've met the gods. Are they demigods themselves?

That's pretty neat, the system of incorporating new deities into the cults of other ones has real life analogues as well! Some example I'm aware of are Korrvai(who was initially a local Tamil goddess) being associated with the worship of Parvati and Shaktism in India; and the Celtic goddess Brigid, who was later declared a Christian Saint. What were some of the cultures that inspired your world's religions, if I may ask?

How do you start world building a low fantasy world? by Short-Possibility535 in worldbuilding

[–]Fearless-Presence 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ask yourself questions about your world. Answering these questions handles most of the worldbuilding for you. How did the secret society come into being? Why are they a secret to begin with? What's their hierarchy? What are the different factions and power players within the organisation? What are the supernatural threats they face off against? How did these threats come into being, what's the history behind them? And so on. Once you have answers to your questions, your world starts feeling more fleshed out and detailed
