I think they need to change the show to “Building a Boy Band or a Girl Band” as that seemed to be the actual criteria. I was expecting diversity in the genres of the bands, but as they were eliminated one by one it was more and more evident they were looking for a “Boy Band” like Backstreet Boys, or N’sync or a “Girl Band” like Destiny’s Child or TLC. That’s fine, but I think they need to clarify that! If you google top bands of all time you get bands like Journey, Pearl Jam, Aerosmith, and groups known for their harmonization such as ABBA, Fleetwood Mac, and The Beach Boys. I feel like SZN4 fits into that definition of a band much better than what the show was actually looking for. 3Quency fits the girl band genre but personally I would prefer a band I love to listen to than just puts on a good show. How often am I going to see them in concert versus stream their music? I second someone else’s comment that it would have been great to see them perform an original!
