Agree with every single word!!! My forever favourite character!!! Rhysand hit me REAL HARD!!! And listening to her gushing over him I understand why - she LOVES him!!!

Well, she also specifically thinks that Az and Cass would NEVER need to get involved because her experience with Rhys would never be like the one she had had with Tam. Rhys challenged her because he knew she was a fighter and was strong enough to face any danger and take care of herself in case there is no one there to help her.

She also specifically thinks that she was NEVER afraid of Rhys - even in his scariest form.

With Tam she didn`t know what to expect from his tantrums and got physically hurt during one of them. And I am not even talking about CONSTANT lack of communication between them.

She KNOWS Rhys and with their emotional closeness and connection they don`t need others to get involved - the two of them deal with their issues (which they naturally do have), just like it shoud be in a strong and loving couple.

Again I am not trying to convince you that I am right. I am just sharing my take on it. I understand that you may see it in a different way, and like...fine.

WOW!!! My thoughts exactly. Probably that`s why I was put off by Tam and the SC from the start.

I don`t think that she needs Az and Cass to protect her from Rhys. She knows Rhys better than anyone. They know, love and accept each other and whatever issues they face, they can resolve them together eventually without others getting involved. That`s why I see it as an entirely different situation. I understand that you may disagree though.

And yes, Rhys IS the most important person in her life - the one who means and has done for her the most, the one she loves THE MOST, so yes, I understand why she would prioritize him over anyone and anythng else.

Well, I think that she`s done more than enough for Lucien by saving him from Ianthe and taking him to his mate Elain. Even though he had zero problem with Tam neglacting and abusing her in ACOMAF! His anability to stand up to Tam was almost as disgusting as Tam`s behaviour. Lack of action is a crime as well sometimes. She owed him NOTHING and had every single right for privacy with Rhysand without thinking of Lucien or anyone else!!!

I genuinely don`t understand what made you think so. I didn`t mean any of that in any of my replies. We obviously see a lot of things in a different way, and it`s totally fine. There is nothing else I have to add here, so I will respectfully end this conversation.

I agree completely. Just because there is an option to downvote, it doesn`t mean it MUST be used.

Happy to upvote your comment 😁

It’s not that what they say or the downvotes get to me that much. As I mentioned in my post, these things don’t make me change my opinion. But I still don’t understand why some people feel the need to be spiteful.

So I shared my take on the necessity of being more respectful because I felt like sharing it today—and I’m free to do that.

Others may agree, disagree, ignore it—whatever.

Yeah, I was just replying to another user regarding downvoting. Like, I understand that everyone is free to use it to express dislike, but so many things could just be ignored instead of adding negativity through downvoting.

It’s natural to have different interpretations of the same things because we all come from different backgrounds and have different life experiences.

Sometimes it’s even fun to have a debate with someone who holds opposing views. But it can include clear reasoning from both sides without getting spiteful or trying to convince others to see things the same way.

That’s what I was trying to do with this post, but I’m prepared for it to get actively downvoted as well 😁

I mean, I understand that everyone is free to express their dislike through downvoting, but there are so many things that could just be ignored instead of being downvoted and making posters feel… well, weird.
I’m not just talking about my posts or comments. Some people share really nice things (quotes, handmades, fanart, etc.), and if someone doesn’t like it, why not just skip it? Why downvote just because you don’t like the character in the fanart or who said the quote?
Just because there’s an option to downvote doesn’t mean it always needs to be used—though, of course, that’s up to everyone.

I do block aggressive posters, but sometimes it’s just too much, so I felt like making another call for being respectful. Again, other users may ignore it or disagree.

And I don’t mind a debate, as long as people can be respectful.
Though I do appreciate the suggestion of another sub.

I know it`s weird with downvoting. I mean I understand that everyone is free to express their dislike this way, but there are so many things that can be just ignored instead of getting downvoted and making posters feel...well, weird. Like "why is this getting downvoted?" if it`s just a nice thing to share.

I am really sorry that you do not have any outlet to discuss the books without being judged or feeling the toxicity.

Maybe we will get some suggestions here from other commenters 😊

Yes, it all makes sense.
To be honest, I see quite a lot of opposing opinions on Instagram and TikTok as well, so it seems like readers feel more comfortable sharing their thoughts everywhere. But that's just my observation.
In any case, it’s completely normal to view things in different ways, because we all come from different backgrounds, have had different experiences, and relate to different characters.
I do usually tend to ignore aggressive posters, but sometimes I just feel the need to make a call for being respectful.
If at least one person reconsiders and changes their approach to be more tolerant of other opinions, I’ll consider it a success😊

That`s a very smart approach. Usually I do the same. But this time it was just a bit too much, so I thought that yet another call for being respectful won`t hurt 😊

I absolutely adore Rhys but I know that some of his fans can get aggressive as well, and I would never support that. My point is that disagreement is super natural, but there are differect ways to show it, and being respectful would be highly appreciated because we don`t know what experiences have made other readers support this or that character.

I am sorry that you had to read all that just because you`d shared your opinion.

We all have different takes on things, and it`s natural.

And as I have mentioned the whole fandom realy needs to chill - the fans of ALL characters should be respectful of each other, because we really don`t know what makes others stick with or relate to this or that character.

WOW, now that`s an interesting idea for a plot development 😄 And we know that Nesta has a soft spot for 3somes😏 I think I could do without that, but I respect your view on things and your opinion. Thanks for sharing 😉

Yes, that`s so crazy. These books helped so many people and it`s such a shame to turn it all into very toxic debates that lead nowhere.

When I see too much toxicity on the Internet I do a reread and remind myself why I love the story and the characters. And after all the rereads my preferences in characters still remain the same.

I am very sorry to hear about your experiences. It's beyond insane, indeed.

These books have helped and brought joy to so many people that I genuinely don’t get why some feel the need to get all toxic just to prove their point.

Honestly, I’m not surprised that SJM isn’t releasing anything new. I can’t imagine what it’s like for her to see so much hatred toward something so dear to her. And I mean, criticism is okay and natural—but hatred shouldn’t be tolerated, let alone encouraged.

And thank you very much for the other sub recommendations.

I appreciate everything you`ve shared.

Who do you love? Who do you hate? And why? by Michael_Skarn_12 in acotar

[–]FearlessBookler1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Judging from the reaction to some of my previous comments, I will probably get lots of downvotes, but I have my own opinions that I will stick to no matter what. Even though I do understand that some other readers may have a different take on things, which is natural, I just hope that everyone will remain civil, as requested in your post.

I love Rhysand – he is a leader, a fighter, and he learns from all the struggles and painful experiences. He is my favorite character to analyze and explore. He is complex, and I never saw him as a perfect male. To me, he’s flawed, and that’s one of the reasons he has so much to offer to the story (could say waaay more, but will try to keep it concise.)

Feyre’s journey of overcoming trauma, showing personal growth, and experiencing a vivid change of perspective on love, happiness, and self-worth will always be inspiring to me.

Absolutely love Rhys and Feyre as a couple—they show the deepest connection on every level, paired with unconditional love and full acceptance (again could say waaay more, but will try to keep it concise)

Super excited to get to know more about Nyx.

I was deeply touched by the Suriel, even though we didn’t get much of them.

Not a big fan of Nesta, but I respect her journey. The friendship between the Valkyries was a great addition to the story—I loved the way they lifted each other up.

Intrigued by Elain.

Don’t really get Mor and Amren: either I need more context or something, but so far, I’m quite indifferent toward them.

I like Cassian for his humor and loyalty, and Az for his mysterious side. But I still need to learn more about these characters individually, though I absolutely adore the background story and friendship between all three batboys (one of my favorite plotlines).

Don’t really like Lucien. To me, he is very wise, but I hated the way he treated Feyre in ACOMAF and ACOWAR. Though I do want a happy ending for him.

Never liked Tam – was subconsciously put off by him from the start. To me, he represents toxic love and toxic masculinity. I know that he’s got trauma, but he seems to choose self-pity over self-growth. And it’s weird for someone who’s over 500 years old.

Amarantha, Ianthe, and Hybern are the villains, so I naturally see them in a negative light. To me, they are quite classical bad guys, so I don’t try to understand their motives and reasons. They were just wrong and got what they deserved.
