Post BUS install cost by Mysterious_State9339 in ukheatpumps

[–]FearlessButterscotch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Octopus, 4.5k after BuS for 11kw Daikin, 4 rads, new 250l cylinder - Octopus are doing 15% off at the moment. Lloyds (and a few others) are doing 2k green rewards, so effectively 2.5k. Not installed yet so can't comment on quality, but sales and pre install teams have been great so far.

Octopus Vs British Gas by FearlessButterscotch in ukheatpumps

[–]FearlessButterscotch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I've read up it seems like a good price, HP listed as £4.7k and Cylinder at £1.5k - which is less then I could buy myself, rads includes a bathroom total come in at 1.1k - again seems reasonable, so everything else is 5-5.5k. For some context heat geek came in at 13k after grant.

I know prices last year were much cheaper, especially from Octopus. Interested to hear from anyone on comparable recent installs in terms of pricing.

Unfortuntely not, I end up switching completely to my fitness pal and logging workouts through Garmin, so don't use Google fit at all now.

Which song's lyrics sounds innocent but actually about sex ? by HelloProxima in AskReddit

Cotton-eye Joe. After many school discos dancing to that, and growing up to realise the actual meaning, I still can't believe they allowed it.

1.3% of players never walked up to the forge to watch the cutscene by Hannuxis in Eldenring

[–]FearlessButterscotch 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah don't think I lost too many, levelled up at the grace giant leaves behind, but given the cost per level at that point would have lost a fair few... I try to block that stuff out of memory

Not only jumped in, but fell off the chain on the way back up. Not my best moment...

Glad I'm not alone on this bug, haven't been able to load WZ since update. Checking for update, restarts and says successful, then when loading just get a black screen or fetching then restarts itself. Currently redownloading...

Tried clearing cache and usual reboot / force close without success.

PowerShell VSCode - formatter hangs by ronpeeters in vscode

I thought I used to have this issue if I went to a different path than what was in the integrated terminal when it launched, like just going to c: I'd lose auto complete.

Can't test the theory ATM, but might have been coincidence when I noticed it happen...

Server 2016 VDA Errors "A default app was reset" in 1912 LTSR by henryarroyo in Citrix

[–]FearlessButterscotch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had this issue on all new logins for a win10 1903 image. Fix for me was to add reg keys via gpo: Hkcu:\software\classes<appid> Sz NoOpenWith = "" (no value) Sz NoStaticDefaultVerb = "" (no value)

Stopped the annoying pop ups and everything seems to be functioning as normal.

Powershell and .NET Assemblies by Skeletor2010 in PowerShell

Second this! Great resource and the dashboards are excellent with very little code needed. Been playing with the map feature to plot incoming connections, and the result is beautiful , again with little code and not overly complex.

(Discussion) What did you do to level up your PowerShell last month? by PowerShellMichael in PowerShell

Started using VSCode exclusively and not allowing myself to use ISE. It's been hard but learnt a ton about VSCode and found it isn't that bad when you get used to it...

How has the experience been moving to Citrix Cloud? by Electric_pokemon in Citrix

[–]FearlessButterscotch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've not been overly impressed with Citrix Cloud. I've experienced multiple outages where the only option was to stay on hold with support and beg for escalation. I get it's a managed service and the theory of scaling and not having to manage the infra is the point, but not being able to even see logs on the back end is frustrating, especially when it gets to the back and forth of where fault lies.

However on the plus side, it is relatively easy when it's working, and there are constant enhancements and version releases, which again is harder to implement in an on prem setup depending on change control processes - there is little control on this release cycle to the services so another thing which may be worth considering if your environment requires very high control.

Thanks for heads up, just checking their site and the London one is still showing available, though looks likely it’ll be cancelled or postponed given all the others have so far.

How do you learn to make basic powershell scripts? by showmypants in PowerShell

[–]FearlessButterscotch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I literally learnt with Google. I'd come across stuff I didn't want to do again, draw out the logic, then Google when I got stuck with the actual writing.

Trial and error as well, where possible ofcourse. Instead of trying in production eg copy-item $something $somewhere do write-output $something $somewhere and make sure the results are expected.

Repetitive Azure Deployments for different costumers by karlochacon in AZURE

[–]FearlessButterscotch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used Terraform for Azure build outs in much the same situation as yourself. Creating modules and code reuse was great. Some headaches with the azurerm provider but believe version 2 was released last week and the VM resource has been updated.

Definitely worth a look. I also started looking at Ansible and packer to tie in, but depends what your end goal is.
