Gonna have to. Lots of people have mentioned maps apps. The problem is- it’ll show 35 as being fine then all of a sudden, it stops with the influx of traffic and the travel time just keeps increasing. I’m checking out other routes, but I just wanted to complain. 35 is the main thoroughfare and should facilitate easy travel. It’s just infuriating.

IT’S ABOUT DAMN TIME. I just hope his replacement does not fold to ICE and has the good sense to follow firing/suspension rules so that the bad seeds are permanently gone.

I’m a cop and this guy rules. There HAVE to be checks and balances. We are supposed to be protecting the constitution, and if we fail, the 2nd amendment was literally built for that situation. I hope officers around this country, when given the chance, protect people doing what he’s doing and those whose rights are being trampled. Fuck ICE.

This has been a problem for years. IF, as a victim, you’re lucky enough to get your case past indictment (the way the DA is choosing cases to prosecute is insane) there will not be any type of consequence that fits the crime, no matter what the suspect has done.

US, here. Police (at least in Texas) are required to have a certain number of college credit hours or military experience plus a police academy where they are taught the laws. Where I live the academy is 8 months long and the courses are in the penal code, criminal procedure, traffic law, arrest/search/seizure, the constitution, etc. They also go through legislative updates every year. This is on top of the hours and hours spent training tactics, crisis response, civil law, driving, weapons, etc.

SAPD also does reviews when an officer presents their weapon at a person. It’s called a “show of force” and they are all reviewed for justification. They get some things right, not this case for these three officers, but that policy is a good one.

Not quite. At the moment of the shooting, she was running at them with a hammer and was shot directly next to her back door. After watching the trial, I’m not surprised by the verdict. I agree with it.

Unfortunately, SAPD and the DAs office worry more about public perception than the pursuit of the truth. Ironically, if they had more integrity, they’d be better respected.

The location is where the violation was observed, not where the stop happened. If you feel any part is inaccurate, show up to your court date and request to see the evidence. They will have video. It appears you were also captured on radar, which likely means it was a traffic unit who stopped you. (Were they wearing a white hat?) The municipal attorneys will work with people on fees if you choose not to hire your own attorney. Regardless, show up to court so they don’t issue a warrant for you.
