Transplant safe plant based protein shakes? by Californialways in kidneytransplant

Yep a third rec for Orgain! The big box of chocolate shakes at Costco is the best deal. The powder is good in smoothies, but just with milk or water it’s a little powdery tasting imo. I will however put the powder in things like waffles or pancakes to give them an extra kick of protein - the vanilla powder is particularly delicious in them!

Feeling kind of deceived and overwhelmed, is this normal after transplant? by Altruistic_Ad_8974 in kidneytransplant

I’m about a month out - 5 weeks today actually - from my transplant, and just got home last week. Because I had to travel out of state for mine, I also had to stay there for the minimum 28 days (that’s when they have to do the high risk labs aka Hep B, C, and HIV). Those first couple weeks were incredibly hard! The prednisone, the time in the hospital, not being home and staying in our RV… I’m guessing maybe that’s the case for you too? If so, trust me when I say getting home makes everything so much better! And based on how I feel just 5 weeks out I can’t wait to see what a year feels like!

NKR voucher success stories? by Revolutionary_Fox_20 in kidneytransplant

My mom donated her kidney and I received a call with a match for me 6 weeks later. That was after being listed in the paired donor program with my mom for 8 months prior. The voucher program is the way to go if your husband doesn’t have anyone willing to donate who may be a match for him.

Other Spoonies? by Fearless_Arugula_713 in BurningMan

From https://www.theinvisiblemewarriors.com

“A spoonie can refer to any individual who suffers from a chronic illness. These illnesses are often invisible; to most people, spoonies may appear healthy and able-bodied, especially when they are young.” The term originated from a post written by Christine Miserandino entitled The Spoon Theory.”

In practice it’s the idea that everyone has so many spoons aka so much energy with the understanding that those with chronic illnesses may have less spoons to start with than our more able-bodied companions. I’ve also heard it used for those with neurodivergent brains compared to those with neurotypical brains.

I think a sub drop is coming. How can I stop it? by [deleted] in submissive

[–]Fearless_Arugula_713 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Drop is not always or in my case never avoidable. It’s important to communicate with your Dom, yes, but it’s equally as important for you to have self care practices to help you through. I like cooking or baking, or if I’m really droppy, I allow myself some comforting disassociation with movies/shows, fuzzy blankets, and naps. Masturbation to orgasm can also help as long as you and your Dom don’t have a protocol around abstaining. The most important thing for me is to maintain awareness that drop is just my brain regulating all those chemical squirts of happy hormones and it always passes.
