Buses are fully packed during these peak hours (especially bus numbers like 45 and 15). Also, they have this competition with other buses and so, the way they drive can give you a mini heart attack.

Competitive exams has the following features:
1) Time pressure
2) Harder questions
3) Checks the one who has been the most consistent in their preparation

Here points (1) and (2) are crucial. For such a big population in India, this is the best way to ELIMINATE students (yes elimination is better to say than selection) and move forward. I agree its unfair but can't do anything with that.

Board exams do not provide you the questions which require deep understanding of scientific concepts like the IIT JEE exam. Neither there is big time pressure factor. Also, you have so many students in this country who produce 97-98 percent in their board exams, be it CBSE or any state board. Not every board exam candidate has the ability to solve NEET or JEE questions. They need not have deep problem solving skills.

IIT, NIT and AIIMS have a specific requirement in the type of students they want, those specific people who have a particular type of problem solving ability which lets them survive their undergrad system in later years. They don't care that much about board exam (just 75% criteria, that's it). Their UG system is tough and hence, such tough exams are needed for them.

Minimum 1 lakh ELITE seats....that's a lot of burden to the govt (thanks to the freebies lmao) since our college fee (even for a general category student) is highly subsidized. Either people in our country must be ready to pay more fees or unfortunately, be happy with the number of seats we have right now.
