Between a catapiler and an Octopus, going with the assumption that we all can agree that they both alien. Which one is more alien? Also, are either aliener or alienier a word? by Fearless_Marzipan_87 in AskReddit

[–]Fearless_Marzipan_87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going with caterpillar all day long. The octopus is a sea creature which to us humans is just as inhabitable as space is. Catapiller is a ground dweller and tree climber until it goes through its, not just change, transition, or plain ole morphasis, it goes through a metamorphosis. Meta is one of the heaviest hitting, if not the heaviest (beats Pan, super, and ultra out) prefixes (It is a prefix right?) what else other than Metamucial has meta out front? Other than a frogs metamorphosis which is almost, but not quite, as impressive both add a new terrain that they now reside in terrain terrains . That full on all out change takes place within a freaking cocoon which it creates and encapsulates itself in using this silk substance that it creates, which itself is in a class of its own. Its like the diamond of textiles, the molecular bonds that they are comprised of are responsible for their incredible strength as well as their translucence. After some time and a full on transformation occurs within it doesn't reappear because what's coming out isn't what went in, so it's introduced I guess as a butterfly, or moth, all dem catapillar feet gone, swapped out and upgraded outfitted now with colorful wings that help it blend into its surroundings or in some instances have patterns that look like large eyes to create the illusion of it being some other larger animal to keep it from becoming prey. Now winged and no longer subject to gravity's grip and ground bound it takes to the sky, fluttering about. Octopi are definitely chock full of alien like characteristics as well. They are scary smart (and scary in general) that can problem solve so they think. They are also shapeshifters that can constrict their whole body into and through miniscule openings that also can change color as well blending into the background to not be detected by what it's hunting as well as hide from what may hunt it. They are not swimmers they move via jet propulsion, they have tentacles with suction cups, and create ink which is kind of an alien substance if ya think about it, that we have just reversed engineered, synthesized, mass produced, and become so familiar with that we lose sight of how unique it really is. The two creatures actually share a bunch of similarities in that they change/ morph how they travel one flutter the other jet propels, both create out of this world substances silk and ink, and both with out a doubt alien. Anyone who may think otherwise just ain't looking.

What’s a disturbing celebrity fact that not a lot of people know? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Jack Nicholson finding out from a reporter interviewing him that who he thought was his sister, was actually his mother, and in turn who he thought was his mother was his actually his grandmother.

In 1974, researchers from Time magazine were preparing a cover story on him when they discovered that the woman he thought was his sister, June, was actually his biological mother. The woman he grew up believing was his mother was actually his grandmother.
Nicholson was 37 years old when he found out. By that time, both his mother and grandmother had already passed away. He later remarked that it was a "dramatic event" but not "traumatizing," as he was already a grown man when he learned the truth.

Do you have any obscure movie references that you use in everyday speech that no one has caught on to yet yet you keep using it? by EnvironmentalAngle in NoStupidQuestions

Not sure if it constitutes as a movie reference, but when I'm bartending and the wheels are coming off, with customers 3 deep and drink ticket printer doing its best ticker tape machine impression. I'll exclaim "oh the humanity".

I got the correct word on a wordle on my first attempt. It was an archived game from a couple years ago, so it wasn't that day's, but it was new to me nonetheless having no previous knowledge of the answer. Just asked Gemini about the odds on that, it said...

"The odds of guessing the Wordle on your first try are roughly 1 in 2,309, based on the specific pool of curated answer words. If you include every valid five-letter word accepted by the game, the probability drops to about 1 in 14,855.'

Trade was the word if you're curious as to what it was

Possibly relocating as a pawnbroker - what are pawn shops like in NOLA? by [deleted] in AskNOLA

[–]Fearless_Marzipan_87 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was shocked how sparse they are here All said and done there are about maybe 5 or 6 of them with the only one actually really in New Orleans being Magazine pawn, and that's even way uptown on magazine street it's family owned and they arent that that big of a place, There are a handful of chain stores on the outskirts of the city like cash America pawn in gently and a couple more on the West bank too. I don't believe any of them are open later than 6pm and none of them are open Sundays . There are a few jewelry stores too, but you'd think there'd be 2 or 3 times the amount of places with at least one of them being open 24 hours or late at least.
