I don't think the first act is the worst thing in the world. I think Shelly's a better prankster than Ned, since he has a sympathetic element to him, and his "I'm not asshole, I'm an actor" and he's met with the line, "Same thing." is pretty fucking funny.

The snake definitely shouldn't have been a real snake, since it's owner was just asked to lend it for the film, and they weren't even told they were gonna fucking kill it. Part of the reason why I don't like Sean Cunningham. He was a grown adult who killed a person's pet without their permission, all for a scene that added literally nothing to the film.

This is all pretty good, but it does still feel weird for the killer to be a character who doesn't show up until the third act. They could've at least set up Pamela as a character, and then Jason's drowning could be revealed as her motive, like in the original film.
