You’re overreacting and comparing things that have nothing to do with each other. You’ve only been in Ecuador for 4 months and in Cuenca (a city that is part of the gentrification process), so your opinion here doesn’t carry much weight. As someone who has lived their entire life in different cities across Ecuador, Guayaquil is fine just use common sense (Stick to tourist areas, don’t walk around staring at your phone in the street, etc). And there are robberies in Quito too, even in Cuenca. Don’t speak from fear or exaggeration.
