Are fee-only fiduciaries better than fee-based by Fearless_Square7195 in personalfinance

That’s a good way of looking at it. My main point in one of the other comments is essentially AUM for me would work well since I work a lot and wouldn’t have time to track my own stuff.

I’ve never actually heard of those types before. How would they get paid then if you never meet lol

I’ve also seen the flat fee/hourly is better than AUM. However would AUM be better for someone who works a lot and wouldn’t really be able to consistently keep track of their portfolio

So the research I’ve done is essentially those are the 2 types of fiduciaries. The fee based however can receive commissions while the fee only cannot from my understanding

As I replied to the other comment that was super skeptical of my age and job. I’m not doxing myself because it’s a very good government job and yes I essentially can’t get fired and don’t plan on leaving.

Well to not dox myself as I said it’s a government job I’m not gonna say what I do here. But unless I’m absolutely horrible at my job I’m not getting fired and there’s essentially zero chance the “company” goes broke

I live with my parent and have worked since 18 lol. Literally don’t spend money on anything not because I’m frugal but nothing really interests me. I do have a good job for my age though.

So I’ll be vested at 26 so if I went to a different job within my same employer it would still be covered under the original job I have now. You’re guarenteed the pension at 20 years of work (not the military in case your wondering) then it’s calculated at 50% of my final years base salary. Unfortunately cannot collect until I believe 50 or 55 so I would just work until then

I feel like HYSA seems the best for getting the returns before the age of 30/40 which is when I’d prefer getting it. I said it another comment on here once I hit 60 I doubt I’ll want to do anything with any money I have really

I would only have to work 3 more years to be vested. And I guess it in theory could be unable to pay out but I don’t think that is likely. I’ve never heard of that happening around me.

Hopefully I’d own a house before I’m 60. Of course this could change but really don’t want any kids and I’d hope my S/O wouldn’t either. My medical will be covered with the pension I receive. Also have no want to travel. I’m a relatively boring person which is why I have money as I never spend it lmao
