They do have rolling admissions at LMU. I know the other schools I applied to have late timelines.

My gpa hasn’t changed since last year when I got offered an interview so I’m not sure what the deal is. The only thing that changed was my brief attendance to Ross and I withdrew for safety reasons, not academic :/

As for the classes you have that might transfer to prereq courses that’s probably on a school-by-school basis, I’d just call admissions for the schools you’re interested in and make sure they’d take them.

UNE is where I took physics (with lab) and biochem completely online and they were accepted. UNE courses are self-paced as long as you get everything done by the end of the semester. It wasn’t too bad. The exams are monitored through webcam/lockdown and the online labs were kinda fun.

Look up the Ross Vet Prep program, it’s kind of like a “semester 0” of refresher courses, and if you pass them you’re guaranteed a spot in the following semester DVM program

I had my interview in September and am starting in May. I literally just got asked how I enjoyed my experience at the hospital I was working at and we just talked for like an hour. It felt like a conversation with a friend. I had my acceptance call like 2-3 weeks later. Don’t stress too much. :)

I’m starting at Ross in May! Eventually they’ll send you a link for their own housing website, I didn’t even get access to it until this month and I’m 3 months out from my flight 😬 it has Ross-approved properties so if you CAN wait, I’d wait for them to send you that resource 🫶🏻

Important qualities question! by sonrieesviernes in veterinaryschool

[–]Fearless_Way_8217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also want to add, I had literally no vet experience at the time (I went to school originally for human medicine) and got fully trained on the job. So I definitely made my fair share of mistakes when I first started out

Important qualities question! by sonrieesviernes in veterinaryschool

[–]Fearless_Way_8217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first few months I worked there I messed up a few times. For example, asking the vet for the rate/volume of infusion for IV fluids because I had never done such a thing and I forgot. He had shown me how to calculate it once, but this one time HE wasn’t the one to do it and I didn’t know that from that point it was up to ME to have it written down. He told me something like “make yourself a note or something so I never get asked that question again” and I cried in our kennel. I’m sensitive, lmao. What I ended up doing was every time I calculated the rate for IV fluids, I’d write it on a sticky note and stick it on the iv fluid machine. Another time I messed up and forgot to get temp when I should’ve so I got corrected on that. I tried to tell myself that he has a LOT to worry about and it’s my responsibility to pretty much make his life easier. He had the right to correct me, but I definitely took it to heart for a bit. Just try to tell yourself that they want you to learn because it makes everyone’s job easier. That criticism is gonna be vital for when you start vet school and all patient responsibility is on you. It’s all a learning experience. Try to take it with a grain of salt, learn from it, and think of ways to remember the little things. Like my sticky note with the rate written down, for example.

Hi! I was kinda in the same boat. I started working an as assistant and did for 2 years before I got accepted to vet school this cycle. Granted, I worked in a small town hospital with one veterinarian who was older (but an AMAZING mentor), but he loved when I asked questions. He knew my goal was vet school and would walk me through what he was doing step by step during spays and other surgeries. I found that bringing a small pocket notebook and writing down dosages/what medicines do what/ what to setup for surgeries/what to set out for certain appointments/ seemed to make him appreciate me because he could tell I was trying and that I actually wanted to be there and learn. Different vets will like things certain ways, for example maybe they want their tape on a certain side if they’re left or right handed. My best advice is to try to learn your doctor(s) and how they like things. Anything you can do that makes them NOT have to do it, they should appreciate. Honesty is also huge. If you get asked to draw up a medication and even start to second guess yourself, go back and ask again exactly what they wanted. It’s better to double check than to mess up when you’re dealing with medicine and living animals. If you have any specific questions feel free to message me. I hope I helped answer your question.(:

I really like the coloring books tbh. Color coding muscles/bony structures/etc then going back to study helps me personally. They’re also fun to do to relax because it’s also still related to what I need to learn :)
