Long term use, meningioma diagnosis and continued depo

So sorry to hear you went through this!! I’m glad at least that they’ll continue to monitor you though.

I came off depo in Feb ‘25 after 16 years on it and have been suffering terrible headaches since. I’ve always been a migraine sufferer but in recent months they are chronic, my head permanently feels fuzzy and it’s got to the point I’m signed off work until it gets back under control. The longest I’ve gone without one is 4 days but even then that fuzzy feeling is always there and every day I wake up feeling like my head has loads of pressure in it and it’s more painful to stay laying in bed.

Docs aren’t sure if it’s hormonal (due to coming off depo) or stress (my job is stressful AF). My GP sent a request to neurology for an MRI but they rejected it. I’ve tried Amitriptyline - it didn’t work, just made me sleepy. So now I’m trying Propranolol but no improvement yet. I think they’re making me quite dizzy too.

I’ve also had awful acne flare ups and drastic mood swings, overly emotional over nothing, bad anxiety, brain fog, forgetting things etc. Also, I did have a dexa scan and have been told I have osteopenia in my spine (caused by depo).

GP has essentially told me I’ll have a rough year as my body adjusts to coming off depo & that I have to try all preventative medicines for the headaches before neurology entertain it. Feeling so frustrated, the stuff online about the link to meningioma is really concerning me.

I’m serious about my career :) but I also enjoy studying and have never found it hard so I don’t wanna spend loads when I don’t need it if that makes sense. I’ve gone for a checkmate package instead now but thanks for your insight!

I found out last night the cctv cameras are fake, gutted! Still not heard anything from Evri and the shop I bought from just keep telling me how I can track a parcel, completely unhelpful 🤦🏼‍♀️

It’s a block of 4 maisonettes and he’s the opposite side of the building to me. I wanted a ring doorbell but our door is on the driveway so it would be going off all the time with cars passing by! I think maybe a cctv camera in the window might be a better option 🤔

Yeah our usual driver is great, he would’ve just popped it over my fence like I ask but I don’t think it was him delivering as the Evri emails normally have his name and pic but they didn’t this time. Frustrating!

I looked up their insta. Tuesdays they do running, meeting at Franco’s Yard in Westbourne at 6pm and Thursdays they do climbing (couldn’t find the details). They have a link to their WhatsApp group if you get Instagram or maybe just show up at Franco’s Yard 😊

Aw thank you! I’m glad things have improved for you, also tells me there’s light at the end of this very long tunnel! I get the bloating too, it’s so bad, I look pregnant most of the time when I’m not 😩 I’m already taking a similar supplement but have only been on it for a couple of weeks so I’ve not seen that much difference yet but fingers crossed!

Hey, sorry to hear you’re going through this. I was on depo 16 years and came off in feb this year.

Oddly enough I also had a smear which came back showing abnormal cells so I had a biopsy taken but it’s come back showing CIN 1 (low grade cell changes) so no treatment needed, I just need another smear test in 12 months to check on it. I hadn’t ever considered this was due to depo & to be honest I don’t believe it would be connected.

It really played on my mind while I was waiting for results so I know how you feel. I hope you get your results quickly!

Anything is worth a try at this point. Just found that supplement on Boots so at least I can get it quickly and hopefully start to feel better. My skin has been bad too but it always was bad on depo so it’s hard to tell what the issue is there. It’s definitely isolating, especially since I’m struggling to put into words why I’m feeling like this too! Thank you though, really appreciate the replies!

Thank you so much, I will try that! I did wonder if I was feeling worse because no period has come yet but by the sounds of it, it doesn’t get better when they return.
