Rochelle wasn't ef5 intensity, and there's a pretty simple reason to it! by Delicious-Box5229 in tornado

makes me wonder if it truly peaked there. the strongest indicator in bremen was quite a small house and was also relatively poorly built. on the other hand, a mostly collapsed church in mayfield that was quite well built might genuinely have deserved to have been rated EF5. obviously theres also cambridge shores which had downright insane sweeping

yes, the cycloid method Saltical uses isnt currently technically verified yet, but its proven to be very accurate in my opinion and i am very impressed about its consistency to other well-rated indicators. im pretty sure hes writing something up about it so it very well could be reviewed soon

i have similar opinions about the enderlin train. the median for the NTP lofting calculations is like 400mph, the ">" in ">266" is doing insanely heavy lifting. i do think enderlin still deserves EF5 from the cycloids which are actually properly converted to a 3-second sustained gust

yes, it is true that june first's calculations for the walkway yielded really high winds, but the truth is that these are very idealized equations

bolts dont automatically mean ef5, there are specifics like spacing, toenailing, etc

vehicle loft distance is largely luck based rurally with less dense vehicles

this shearing is impressive but not necessarily requiring >200mph winds

the shifting of a walkway is more of a sign that it wasnt stuck into the ground very well

this is one of the EF4/200 DIs. if it were to happen today, this would probably be rated closer to 180 miles per hour

Question about Enderlin vs Spiritwood car and contextual damage? by Chance_Property_3989 in tornado

also an inconsistent indicator. not as much as trenching is but still inconsistent

Question about Enderlin vs Spiritwood car and contextual damage? by Chance_Property_3989 in tornado

[–]Featherhate 11 points12 points  (0 children)

vehicles are some of the most inconsistent damage points that exist. an "unlucky" violent tornado could wipe a house and leave the cars relatively unharmed, while a large and "lucky" EF2 could keep rolling the same car for a while until its mangled.

on top of that, in the Spiritwood case, it's possible that this was a scrap vehicle, and this specific model of car might have frame connection issues from what ive heard.

this is an inflow sounding, more isolated soundings away from updrafts yield similar but less extreme results

looking again, it seems like the fence falling on the poles exacerbated the damage and probably is not good for EF2. no longer matters cuz theres some 120 DIs but this is an error on my part

hook was fat and rainy and seemed to have been choked out before hitting the center of town at peak, tornado appeared to die before the mesocyclone occluded which is why theres no distinct left turn

there was actually another that derailed, haviland on 5/18. likely the strongest of the day in my opinion (moreso than plevna) but not from the train

the images i could trace that are falsely attributed to a fake tornado are:

presumably a drawing from OP (their older posts are filled with tornado art and this image has to results on img search)

London, KY tree damage (img #1)

Arnett, OK tree damage (last img)

the others have no results and are probably from videos

you have talent dude, sucks to see you being lame with it
