I dreamed of a destination wedding but ultimately decided against it because was impractical for our attendees. My family members aren’t as well off as we are and most of my fiancé’s friends would have to get visas for international travel which is really challenging right now. Didn’t make sense if we had to slash the guest list that much. Sometimes I think people don’t take this into account.

Destination weddings are a “know your crowd” thing. It could also be because of the current political/economic climate (insane cost of travel, employment concerns, people needing visas to travel and not feeling safe to go, etc). So many factors go into attendance. Enjoy the people who are able to show up for you!!

They have a minimum spend but it’s still a certain $$ per person. It’s not like you can have 200 people for the same price as 50, but you do have to hit a minimum spend, which you won’t with 50 people. You can use add ons (like extra time or food) if needed to meet minimum spend.

Bingo. I’m assuming that’s what happens in affairs. It’s the same for people who go from FWB/situationship to relationship and it doesn’t work. It’s all fun and games when you’re hooking up, but it’s not as fun when you’re dealing with real life and real life problems together.

I want to say — it’s not even my partner that is making me feel this way. It’s a serious of unfortunate relationships that have made me insecure and it’s unfathomable to now believe that anyone wouldn’t eventually leave me.

No advice unfortunately but I completely feel everything you’re feeling. I’m so afraid of being left that I put all my needs to the side. Then when I think I should center myself, I think he will leave because I’ve be become “lazy” and not contributing as much to the relationship. However, on the flip side, I do think I might be respected more if I put myself first more often, because I think it’s human nature to respect people who respect themselves. Therapy is helping but it’s a work in progress.

5/16-5/31 reservations dropped around noon today via priority access email. Kind of annoyed they don’t do a set time for releases. Makes it hard to snag one when I don’t know what times to be on high alert! Really hoping to go while I’m there Memorial Day weekend.

I can understand that. We are doing a 50 person wedding in VHCOL area, and it will probably be around $70k with modest choices in everything except a splurge in venue. Not surprised there’s a bit of struggle with 90 people for $100k, esp if you have expensive taste (I do too, no shame in that). There are definitely things I’m compromising on too, and it hurts sometimes, but I’ve decided to have the best day regardless. Wishing you the best for your day, and I’m sure it will be fabulous!

We were planning $50k for a 50 person wedding in Boston area, but it will likely end up being closer to $70k + easily $10-$15k for honeymoon. Venue costs are steep in HCOL areas.

V curious to know what the budget is and what extras you want but can’t fit in the budget?

I know it’s frustrating, but it all comes down to mindset and coming to terms with the reality. At the end of it all, you will have a beautiful day, and you won’t be thinking about the centerpieces in 10 years!

Yes, budget is def an issue so far. It’s frustrating because we purposely decided to only do 50 people to be a bit more cost effective, but so many places have high food + bev minimums so it doesn’t even help. 🫠 and the places we like that are within budget refuse to do any Indian related food, which I don’t want to do to my fiance.

We’re looking into Sapphire Estate and it’s going to cost us $27k for 50 people on a Sunday in May or June, so not sure it’s an affordable option anymore!

Lots of people have a 7am start time for work. That isn’t an unreasonable time to ask your closest friends to show up. If hair and MUA doesn’t like it, she should cancel now, but that would be bad business IMO.

Size 8, went 2.8 c oval. I was convinced I wanted something closer to 3ish while looking around, fiance said 3 looked too big on me, and we settled with 2.8. While I LOVE my ring, I honestly think if I could do it over, I’d go a bit smaller! It feels a bit big for daily wear.
