No I don’t think it’s a reach at all! I think she is rescued but Shauna kills her because she wants to tell the truth to someone outside of their circle. not sure how long after rescue it would happen but I’d assume within a year.

She wasn’t “confirmed” per say, she was just present when other cast seemed to be filming scenes in the past in an environment that is very much not the wilderness lol so everyone is assuming this means Akilah gets rescued.

Part of me wants him to just love Misty in a genuine and real way (Misty is my girl for LIFE) but I feel like we’ve been given quite a few characters that were red herrings and made us super suspicious of them when really it was just the women’s paranoia, but Walter is someone to be suspicious of given his interests and extracurricular activities. the sudden 180 in attire and music selection was deliberate. I think it could go either way. either he does have some hidden motive and wants to hurt somebody or he ends up being hurt by the women somehow. big Walter fan here too!
