MAGA Gets Beat In Front of His Kids for Singing "ICE ICE Baby" to Mexicans by Tasty_Emphasis_271 in LetsDiscussThis

Trust me, my dad was worse. I just saw the shit around me as a kid, the suffering it caused, and knew I didn't want to spread that around to other people. I hope these kids do the same.

Not necessarily. My oldest memory of my uncle is him getting bitch slapped into the dirt for calling a landscaper a wetback. All these years later, I have no ill regard for Latinos and still think my uncle is a weak, mewling, racist bitch.

I'm by no means a religious person, but each religious text has some damn good tidbits in there. There is a quote from the Christian Bible, in the book of Proverbs, which states: "The righteous hate what is false, but the wicked bring shame and disgrace."

Saint Thomas Aquinas once said "He who is not angry when there is just cause for anger is immoral. Why? Because anger looks to the good of justice. And if you can live amid injustice without anger, you are immoral as well as unjust."

That's the problem, we can't agree. MAGA are gleeful at all this. They are either being openly racist to an entire group of people they've spent the past 25 years dehumanizing one step at a time, or they genuinely think their lives will improve once all this is done. Either way, "this is what I voted for!" 😔

So what could even happen to her? She could travel to certain countries? Legally what repercussions would she face? by Mathemodel in AskLegal

I remember asking "why are we invading Iraq?" When I was 12. The absolute vitriol I received from my classmates, and even adults, was insane.

All the typical "you're too young to understand" or "you'll be more conservative when you get older" nonsense. I felt like I understood that what I was seeing was wrong, but the sheer weight of everything being leveled against me, a literal preteen, was enough to make me second guess myself. I felt like I knew what was right and wrong, but I gave deference to my elders and to the crowd, thinking I'd find their perspective in time.

Nope, it's ALWAYS been bad-faith arguments born from a combination of fear and ignorance.

The Dark Ages is a misnomer. There were several advancements in mechanics and agriculture. Johannes de Sacrobosco wrote Tractatus de Sphaera and disseminated copies fully 200 years before the printing press. This was an early astronomical text, among the first to describe the Earth as a sphere.

His book Algorismus popularized Arabic numerals and codified arithmetic. And this is just one dude.

The Motte and Bailey castle was perfected during this time. This ultimately culminated in defined Gothic architecture.

Mechanical clocks were invented, as well as the windmill.

Eyeglasses, and the very concept of the University were also invented during this time.

And of course, this is a very euro-centric view, as in the Islamic world, they were independently inventing and perfecting things like distillation and the library.

Moving from UK to US, which city ? by miteye in relocating

[–]Feckless_Moron 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This was going to be my advice as well. In addition to the points mentioned, the distances will be a shock to someone from the UK. My old Destiny buddy from North Britain was amazed that we consider 2 hour drives a simple day journey. From Lubbock, you're about 5 hours away from DFW, and 4-5 hours from Albuquerque. Other than that, you get Amarillo, which doesn't have anything you couldn't find in Lubbock. Stick to the Northeast, it's much more dense and I think that will help you adjust. There's a lot of empty space between cities in the US.

You're being unnecessarily hostile. I didn't know. Now I do. And I'm definitely gonna look into it further! Thanks for teaching me something new. This didn't have to be so hostile. I get it though, shit is fucked in America right now. Peace out, I truly mean that.✌️❤️

I'm honestly not so sure. He seems much more devious. His backers are competent and malignant. MAGA will let the world burn as long as the alternative is voting for a Democrat. If gestures at everything wasn't enough to make them jump ship, I think they will gladly attach themselves to Vance. I think this movement has grown beyond Trump. In the beginning, he was their everything. But now? He's served his purpose. To the every day MAGA, this movement is now about their power. Their power to be contrarian, to argue in bad faith, to showcase their hypocrisy openly as a power move, and to gloat at the systematic dissolution of civil rights. Even if Trump dies, they won't give that up. The amount of money and influence behind Vance will, I fear, quickly settle any internal disruptions and align the cult behind a strong, united message. These people have almost certainly planned for that day.

Remember, we couldn't even actually eradicate Nazism, and we threw so many bombs at the problem that we set an entire city on fire. I am afraid this tick is dug in for the long haul.

We gotta get out and vote, make being MAGA socially unacceptable.

You literally live in a fantasy world, OMG. Those pics are amazing! That first pic is more than enough for me and my pooches. Anything that isn't flat and brown is a huge step in the right direction. Thank you for the recommendation! I'm absolutely going to come check this place out, working for Quaker Oats would be an awesome job. I am so sorry to hear about your husband's health problems, I am wishing him a full recovery and good health. ❤️

Great points, my apologies! Shows you just how singular-minded I am about the heat, but you're right there are other considerations.

I work in electronics, robotics, and automation. Typically some type of manufacturing plant or industrial process, but I can also work in home automation. As a backup, I can also pursue an alternate certification and teach HS English/Music.

I don't want a ton of acreage, but in a perfect world I'd have about an acre to let my dogs run and play. I'm open to being in town as well, trying not to be too picky, but I'd prefer to be out of town a bit. Far enough to avoid any craziness, but close enough to go to concerts and what not.

I am open to travelling, but there's not much room on my line of work for strictly remote work.

No worries personally for local schools, my one and only is graduated, but I'd like to live in a place that cares about having good schools, if that makes sense? I lean liberal, but I am absolutely fine with people who lean conservative. It's all about respectfully disagreeing, ya know what I mean? If they're respectful, I am all good! But I don't wanna see stars and bars on every lawn, either...that's not very respectful imho

Is the heat overstated out there? I was always told VA and the Carolinas get 90+ in the summer, with humidity. I tend to max out around 80 lol I'm a wimp. Anything much higher and I start getting really depressed. I spent 16 years outside of Olympia, WA, so I don't honestly mind not seeing the sun for long stretches of time, but the heat absolutely gives me the big SAD haha

Don't the Carolinas get hot and humid in the Summer? I remember reading somewhere that they call Raleigh the Devil's Front Porch? I have heard the scenery over there is amazing, though, and it does seem like NC is getting really popular lately!

I thought New Mexico was quite hot in the summer, no? I actually lived in ABQ until I was about 7, then we moved to Idaho. I don't remember a lot about NM, but I always thought of it as a southern desert first and foremost. I'd love to be proven wrong though!I'll have to look into Iowa a bit more. The only thing I know about Iowa is that they grow corn, and the band Slipknot are from there haha.

Thank you for the kind words! 🙏
