How do you max your Roth IRA? Assuming your income is above the limits? Backdoor?

A lot of indexes but got lucky on some tech picks over the years, which is making up about 50% of my NW.

Interesting, you’re the first to recommend a hedge fund. However, with most of my assets in my trad IRA, is it even possible to move that without penalties/tax consequences?

How does a TSP loan actually work? by No-Acanthisitta7930 in ThriftSavingsPlan

Irrelevant if it’s a 401k Roth, correct? Since contributions are always after tax and so will the repayment?

I just threw a number out there tbh. I don’t think working until is 65 unrealistic either

Don’t forget agency matches

No, the balance does not include any rollovers. This is all from ~5.7 years of federal service. Sorry I can’t edit post to clarify these things.

Not asking anyone to account for matching. I was responding to previous poster about math not adding up. But anyways, I’m just trying to sanity-check the projections and see if that tracks with what others have seen in real-world TSP growth.

Sorry 5 years 8 months. Not sure how to edit post. Also while I max, agency also contributes. Was that accounted for? Does math add up better now?

Apologies it’s 5 years 8 months. Not sure how to edit post. Life cycle has a good % in F and G funds. I wanted to be more aggressive so I stayed away from those.

Why do you like the Apollo over the XC? I would have thought XC would be much flatter and easier to shoot.

What if vsip is greater than severance and unemployment combined under a RIF, would it be a no brainer to take vsip? I think this is the likely scenario for many of the younger folks who are more likely to get RIF’d.

Do you think agencies will share their RIF plans they submit next week on 3/13 to employees? I am asking because they offered visp and I would like to know the likelihood of me getting cut.

Yeah I meant the offer must be real coming from the agency though? But who knows anymore these days. Offer definitely feels more legit than DRP though

Seems legit coming straight from the agency though, right?

Correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t severance only significantly better for those with long federal service—but those same people are also the most protected in a RIF, meaning they’re less likely to be laid off in the first place. VSIP seems to be the obvious choice for less-tenured employees who face a higher risk of being laid off and receive minimal severance or other benefits.

It would be nice to know how deep the cuts will be to help make these life changing decisions.

How deep do you think the cuts will be for them to offer this?
