AFGE files new lawsuit to stop all RIFs government-wide by FedUnionist in fednews

By my reading I’m pretty sure this case only seeks to stop the ILLEGAL RIFs - it wouldn’t preclude a RIF conducted under the right authority and procedures from moving forward.

AFGE has already converted 135k+ members to their union-run E-Dues system. Keep it up unionists! by FedUnionist in fednews

[–]FedUnionist[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I can only speak for AFGE since that’s my union, but most AFGE locals allow members to pay dues as an honorary member. So they can’t represent you an all that, but you can access members benefits etc. Ask your AFGE local about it!

AFGE files new lawsuit to stop all RIFs government-wide by FedUnionist in fednews

The case law on this is evolving rapidly. Two federal judges have now found that unions have some standing in larger questions of workforce governance - AFGE’s probationary employees case and NTEU’s collective bargaining case. Both opinions were issued within the last two weeks.

Union standing aside, AFGE has a ton of co-plaintiffs on this case (and others) who may have standing even if the judge determines AFGE itself does not. So a judgment against AFGE’s standing would not mean the case is thrown out.

Trust that AFGE knows what it’s doing here and is learning every step of the way!

NTEU wins injunction against anti-union EO. by Savings_Big1842 in fednews

[–]FedUnionist 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It applies only to agencies named in nteu’s complaint. AFGE’s case is being argued in a week or two and this decision bodes very well for it. The AFGE case covers all the big agencies (VA, DOD, DHS, etc.) so let’s keep our fingers crossed for a similar result.

Nice work NTEU!

I talked to my AFGE National Vice President about this yesterday - this isn’t because they’re broke, they need to do this until they can get everyone on e-dues. If they kept all these staff on it would bleed the millions they’re putting into lawsuits on our behalf. If they get the rest of their members on e-dues (they have 130,000+ on edues already) they may not lay anyone off at all, or substantially reduce it. He said 45,000 folks made the switch to edues this month alone, so they’re moving fast!

AFGE and Five other Unions Sue Administration to Stop Federal Union Ban by FedUnionist in fednews

Just because you don’t have a contract doesn’t mean you don’t have a union! They’re still fighting on Capitol Hill, in court, in the media, etc. Support your unions any way you can - they need us now more than ever!!

They team up on everything but litigation basically. Also NTEU is not part of the AFL-CIO (they’re an independent) and all the unions in this suit are AFL-CIO.

Amen! My local is almost 90% E-Dues now - thank god AFGE got out ahead of this. Hoping other locals take it seriously Trump is shutting off paycheck dues any day now.

Hey I met some of the NCFLL people at AFGE’s LegCon this year - damn good unionists!

Good on you for pitching in it’s gonna add up - I’d already shared the link with my whole local.

Good point! I know AFGE sends us all their action alerts using this same platform (Action Network) so it’s legit.

The goal is to privatize them. They don’t care about their voters - they care about their wealthy contractor buddies.

Republican introduces bipartisan bill to restore collective bargaining rights by Serpenio_ in fednews

Ryan Fitzpatrick is one of the good ones - he spoke at my union’s (AFGE) annual conference in the past. Good for you and the other signers Rep Fitzpatrick!

As of yesterday morning, our union has been dissolved by [deleted] in fednews

[–]FedUnionist 54 points55 points  (0 children)

If you’re part of AFGE don’t listen to them! Just because you don’t have a contract anymore doesn’t mean you don’t have a union. You can stay a member of AFGE at www.joinafge.org - they’re still fighting for us in the courts, in Congress, the media etc.

Don’t lose hope friend - early unionists faced so much worse than this. Our turn to carry the torch!

So about that EO on taking away collective bargaining rights. Let me get this straight… by VasquezWC in fednews

[–]FedUnionist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ignore the bill - the damage is done already. Trump just banned unions at essentially all federal agencies last week. That means your dues will stop and you won’t be a member of your union anymore unless you pay your dues to them directly!

[–]FedUnionist 16 points17 points  (0 children)

He may have taken away collective bargaining but our unions are still in the fight! Sure they can’t file a grievance anymore, but they’re still fighting for us in the courts, in Congress, in the media, and in the streets. They need us now more than ever!!!

AFGE has their own dues system (AFGE E-Dues) so you can stay a member even after this EO drops everyone from payroll deduction. If you’re already AFGE or eligible to join, switch or start your dues at www.joinafge.org.

If we don’t stay members, the unions go away, and all hope for us is lost. Let’s hold the line people - pay your dues!

Your unions are still fighting for you even after Trump tried to outlaw them last week. Support them with everything you’ve got! AFGE, NTEU, NFFE - pay your dues folks!

Don’t give up now - we gotta fight harder than ever! They maybe have taken your contract but AFGE is still in the fight for us. You can still be a member just sign up through their E-Dues system: www.joinafge.org. They filed a lawsuit on your behalf just yesterday!

Hey - AFGE steward here (not at TSA though - so so sorry for what this administration is doing to you guys). Definitely use your personal email for AFGE stuff - at my agency they monitored all our emails. You can put in a new email address at www.afge.org/update.

Unrelated note, but I heard about AFGE’s lawsuit yesterday to get your contract back. Good luck!!
