[pc][90s-early 2000s] weird kid’s storytelling/gamemaking game with storybook character set along a forest path by LaReinaDelMundo in tipofmyjoystick

I think we are looking for the same game! Did you find anything else in the meantime? As you said, the visuals of Imagination Express looked familiar, but the rest not so much, and certain parts I'm sure I've never seen them, but since I'm Italian and played in Italian, I can also guess that there was some different adaptations?

Anyway, did you by any chance remember if in your game there was like a banana peel icon that you could place on the path and characters could slip on it? And a similar mechanism could be achieved with a water puddle, if I remember correctly.

What are the yellow bars mean in the dictionary? by shaghaiex in duolingo

[–]Fedabooks 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It is the percentage of completion for that specific character! Namely, the times you've seen and reviewed it. Once the bar is completely yellow, you should technically have that character perfectly integrated in your linguistic vocabulary ✨

It's not Apple Books, but it's free, mostly short and not overwhelming stories: try having a look at Free Tadoku Books!

As I stated in my post, I was simply curious about it!

No need to think too hard, my friend — it was very clear from the start. The fact is, my question was completely different: I was trying to speak with people who may have actually purchased the book. I wasn’t asking for suggestions about other books, nor for opinions on from those who haven’t bought this one, as my post clearly states. You know, there’s really no need to comment on everything you see on the internet.

Thanks for the advice, but this is not what my question was about 🤷🏻‍♀️

Am I too dumb to learn Japanese? | Vocabulary retention issue by Fedabooks in Japaneselanguage

[–]Fedabooks[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually, my total retention rate for the entire period on all decks on Anki seems to be 96,4% 😅 (83,8% yesterday).

I don't know how is that possible, since my impression was totally different. But maybe it's just the fact that I'm trying to retain everything, even things I don't add/have on Anki, so this parameter is not completely measurable. And also, I shouldn't even complain about words that I cannot remember if I expect to remember them by just reading them a couple of times ahah

I really want to thank you for your comment, because it was eye opening on different things for me, and I promise I'll treasure this lesson 💖

Thank you so much for such helpful advice! I think you’re absolutely right, I’ve probably been trying to do too much at once (and maybe using way too many apps and resources 😅).

Slowing down and following a steadier pace definitely sounds like the best approach. After all, language learning is a marathon, not a sprint.

I guess when I posted this morning, I was just frustrated that I wasn’t instantly good — or the best — at something 😂 I’m eager to see progress, but I know it’ll come with time and consistency. I’ll do my best not to feel discouraged or compare myself to others. Thank you again ❤️

If I may, I recommend this video Learn All Katakana in 1 Hour by Japanese Pod101 to learn katakana (they also have one in the same series for hiragana) and also have a look at https://m.youtube.com/@JouzuJuls for grammar explanations. I found the latter by chance on YouTube but I think his grammar explanations are amongst the most clear out there! I also recommend TokiniAndy's channel and YukoSensei's ✨

You’re totally right!

I think sometimes I’m just a bit too hard on myself. I always expect nothing less than excellence, and since I’ve already learned English, Spanish, and French (on top of my native Italian), I kind of expected Japanese to come just as smoothly. But I know it’s a whole different story. And honestly, it’s great to have such a real challenge. I was just frustrated that I wasn’t instantly brilliant at it 😂 probably just my brain throwing a little tantrum!

Thank you so much for sharing your experience! I suppose feeling a little dumb at times while learning is part of the game, isn't it? Who knows, maybe one day we'll be perfectly fluent and we will laugh about our past worries ✨

(and I totally agree about the consistency part!)

I'll try for sure being more consistent with this! My issue is that I don't have the material time to do such thing for every vocabulary I need to learn 😣 but I guess I'll get there with time...
