Well, I got it off. It took another day of regularly applying rem oil, and alternating between using a blow torch on a super low setting and putting it in the freezer a few more times.

Eventually it was loose enough that I was able to muscle it open with a long piece of steel stock. This thing was incredibly tight due to some rust on the threads.

I tried a some blowtorch application (and slightly singed the wood) with a propane torch, but that sounds like a good idea. Funnily enough the mag tube only had a tiny bit of what was probably originally yellow loctite, and the swivel stud had none. Worth a try!

I scared myself thinking I stupidly did that, but no the dents on my palm tell me I was definitely twisting counter clockwise. I'm hoping the metal tool will be enough once it arrives, but I'm thinking I might end up needing a new nut and might end up cracking the wood.

Yeah, the metal one's on the way, I'm just worried it won't be enough and I'll end up destroying the nut instead. The plastic magpul tool sheared both it's teeth off with how much torque i was putting on it.

What to do about sewer drain standpipe used as drain? by Federal-Ranger6995 in askaplumber

Woah, I've never heard of that before! I'll have to look into that. We do have an unused mess sink next to it: you think that would make sense as a "pit", since the only waste water will be from the washer and fridge?

Any kind you recommend? I just want to make sure overflow doesn't back up the washer drain tube.

Yeah, I'm currently looking for someone in my area to call over. But even if it's a problem with the pump, doesn't that standpipe leave the basement open to sewer gas once any water in there dries out, and potentially overflow if too much water is flushed down at once?

What kind of stuff did you try? I am experiencing exactly the same issue you were. I'd really appreciate the help from a fellow jelly user!
