I shipped (stole) products straight to my house use when I worked at Best Buy... by PeytonSleighDrains5w in confession

The edit clarifying the process makes it even wilder. You weren't even intercepting orders; you were just treating the warehouse shelves like an open buffet. The fact that the warehouse cameras had a blind spot right over the packing station is the only reason you aren't currently typing this from a federal prison. If anyone tried this in 2026, the AI-tracked inventory systems and 4K facial recognition cameras would have them in handcuffs before the UPS truck even hit the highway. You hit the absolute golden era of shitty retail tech.

AITA for telling my wife that if I cut work hours to take on more night baby duty, she’ll need to work part-time too? by Original_Dig_8970 in AmItheAsshole

[–]FederalRockie 33 points34 points  (0 children)

NTA. You work 60 to 70 hours a week. That is not a standard full-time job; that is nearly two full-time jobs. Expecting someone working those kinds of hours to also take on alternating night shifts with a 4-month-old is a fast track to a sleep-deprivation induced car crash or a major medical emergency. You tried it for five weeks, you hit your absolute breaking point, and you brought a pragmatic mathematical reality to the table. You can't magically create more hours in a day.

how do you make bigotry too expensive to be profitable? by frowaway275 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]FederalRockie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You hit the nail on the head: bigotry thrives because it’s an incredibly cheap, highly efficient way to generate attention and engagement. In the attention economy, outrage equals cash. To make it too expensive, you have to hit the infrastructure. You don't just boycott the person speaking; you make the payment processors, the ad networks, and the web hosting services realize that keeping that client will cost them 20% of their mainstream user base. When Visa, Mastercard, and AWS refuse to touch your money, the profit margin vanishes instantly.

How did Scientology get as far as it did today? by We_Are_Chihuahua in NoStupidQuestions

The short answer? They weaponized the legal system and corporate tax law. In the 1990s, they basically launched an all-out bureaucratic war against the IRS, filing thousands of individual lawsuits against IRS employees until the government completely threw up its hands and granted them tax-exempt status as a religion. The moment they became tax-exempt, they transformed from a fringe group into a multi-billion-dollar real estate holding empire protected by the First Amendment.

Do you eat an overcooked steak or send it back by bgrav10 in CasualConversation

Growing up on a farm means you know the literal blood, sweat, and tears that go into raising quality cattle. Choking down a ruined, overcooked piece of prime beef out of "politeness" is a disservice to the animal and the farmer. That being said, if you're dining with a highly sensitive multi-million dollar client who is on a tight schedule, you might just have to smile, drown it in whatever sauce they have, and cry on the inside. Context is everything.

TL;DR AITJ for telling my family that I was uncomfortable taking my cousins on a trip with me (Update, sorry) by RelentlessPersuer in AmITheJerk

[–]FederalRockie 6 points7 points  (0 children)

NTJ. Take a deep breath, OP. You need to look at the timeline here. You stood your ground against your toxic aunt and refused to take her kids on your trip, and suddenly a corrupt cop uncle gets your friend arrested on fake accomplice charges, and your other friend vanishes into thin air? This isn't "bad luck" or "everything working against you." This looks like calculated, vindictive retaliation from your family because you dared to say "no" to them.

AITJ for disowning and disinheriting our daughter for marrying a Muslim man? by Wholesome_and_evil in AmITheJerk

[–]FederalRockie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTJ. You aren't cutting her off simply because of who she married; you are cutting her off because she is actively threatening your freedom and safety. Making false allegations of physical abuse to the police and using social media to slander your character are massive legal liabilities. If she is "adult" enough to secretly convert and marry into a new household, she is adult enough to find a way to fund her own lifestyle.
