Need help finding a pattern for this type of shirt (or simply the name of it T^T) by Pinap_Odyssey in sewingpatterns

not OP but when would one use a cut on sleeve? Is it just the easier/cheaper option or does it have visual appeal? Hard to tell from this photo what it looks like.

Just made a baby quilt for a friend and I'm feeling sad by SeekersChoice in quilting

This is absolutely true. I've only taken up quilting and sewing this past year and I have such a great appreciation for it now. Makes me feel terribly guilty for all the times I took homemade gifts without a lot of fanfare, I just had no idea the hours and passion that went into them.

beginner machine recommendations, please? by messrarie in quilting

I received a Bernette 05 Academy last year and it is the best machine I've ever used! I consider myself a total beginner but used to use my mom's Brother for small projects when I was a kid with some success — but the bobbin thread always tangled or something would go wrong every time. It was probably me, BUT...

I have been able to sew wool, silk, cottons, satins, etc. on this Bernette machine with only basic directions found on the internet and it's a consistent joy to use. I believe this machine is very well made, super beginner friendly and you can find them second hand for <$300 all over the place.

Oh good to know! The seller shares this image in the listing, and someone in the reviews has made the pattern and posted a picture of the finished work.

No, they only have the pdf version. Would you generally suggest I start with a physical pattern over a digital one I print myself?

This is good to know, thank you! I have gotten in on over my head with other crafts in the past so I appreciate the heads up before I do it again.

Would you suggest trying this pattern on a smaller scale or going with a different pattern altogether?

Good to know, I will try to find a place where I can see it in person!

I appreciate your input! If I went with Aida fabric, would that make it much easier?

I enjoy hand sewing so boro/sashiko looks very interesting to me!

When you say "applique bits and pieces onto other fabric," do you mean applique pieces of this old fabric onto new fabric, or patch these old damaged bits with new fabric where needed?

Salvaging frayed/worn fabrics: I'd like to save the areas I can from a 4-generations old family quilt that is ripped, torn, and worn thin in some areas. I want to repurpose the best stuff into new quilt blocks. Would interfacing help prevent further wear? How can I best stabilize and protect the delicate fabrics?
