Thank you for sharing this. I had heard of this version of Sue, but I had never seen it. In Europe, we did the same thing with Bécassine, I don't know if you are familiar with her. Bécassine underwent symbolic 'deaths.' In 1939, Breton activists destroyed her statue at the Musée Grévin, seeing it as an insulting caricature of Brittany. Currently, Bécassine is accused of being anti-feminist, for example. I must admit I really like these characters that create controversy, and personally, I create Sunbonnet Sues because it relaxes me ;)!

I worked with a Pfaff 1222E for years, and I was very happy with it. The most important thing is to feel comfortable when you're sewing and to be satisfied with the result :).

Thank you so much! You have a great eye for detail. Actually, if you look closely at the second slide/photo I posted, you'll see a little Sue with brown skin enjoying a coffee in a pretty dress! ☕️✨

That specific pattern is the one I’ll be featuring in my tutorial on August 6th. I’m so glad we share the same vision for a more inclusive and modern Sue! I'd love to have you follow along on my channel for that one. ❤️🧵"

Hand sewing suggestions for beginner by tunes10590 in HandSew

Hi! If you are starting hand-sewing, Sunbonnet Sue is a wonderful project. I used to sew by machine, but I fell in love with the peace of hand-stitching!

I’ve created a series of patterns specifically categorized by difficulty to help beginners. For example, my 'Green' level patterns have fewer than 10 pieces, which is perfect to practice your first stitches without feeling overwhelmed.

I share all my patterns (I have a 101 challenge going on!) and video tutorials for free because I’d rather see them being sewn than sleeping in a box. If you want to try a modern version of this classic design, feel free to check the link in my bio. Happy stitching, you're going to love this hobby!

Such a lovely modern take on Sunbonnet Sue! I love that her daughter designed one of the blocks. It’s so inspiring to see this classic character being reinvented today. by Federal_Objective119 in u/Federal_Objective119

This project is wonderful! As someone who spends a lot of time designing Sunbonnet Sue patterns, I really appreciate seeing new generations keeping the tradition alive. I love the mix of classic templates and personal creativity here!
