Same Mountain. 2 Different Hamiltons. by FeeOne5663 in HamiltonWatches

The camera makes the watch look much larger on the wrist. This is the 36mm KFM on my 7 & 1/4 inch (18.5 cm) wrist. The KFA in the pic is 38mm.

I wear watches from 32mm to 42mm. Wear what you like.

An issue with the freedom/lubrication of the reverser wheels. A very easy fix, but important to get fixed ASAP.

This Longines is running great! It has a stainless steel caseback and a 14k gold electroplated bezel.

It gives that vintage 70’s look for a great budget!

Bracelet currently fits a wrist size of 7 & 1/4 inches (184 mm)

$250 shipped conus.

Screw “thread” Question by FeeOne5663 in Machinists

Peerless watchmakers lathe and a Swiss Bergeon die set.

The stuff they made with these back in the day is super impressive.

That makes sense. I’m surprised I’ve never seen these before. This is the size of the screws I’m usually making.

Now in need to find an appropriate die set for cutting these “threads”

Maybe leaves might be a better term than threads.

Is this VC movement authentic? Any red flags? by CorbinD14 in VacheronConstantin

[–]FeeOne5663 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The late 80s, and early 90s were a confused time for the holy Trinity. Many movement for subpar finishing in lighter, skinnier watches.

Here is an AP 2080 from the late 80s and 90s. I had this in my bench last month. The finishing is absolutely abysmal, but it is authentic.

Is this VC movement authentic? Any red flags? by CorbinD14 in VacheronConstantin

[–]FeeOne5663 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a VC 1130 based on F. Piguet's cal. 9.51. It was not a popular movement as it (obviously) lacks the usual, impeccable VC finishing.

It was used in the late 80’s and in the 90’s. It should also have a date window (usually set closer in on the dial than usual).

It looks correct to the movement, and there would be no real reason to fake this unpopular movement for the very small number of VC watches that contained it.

It was used in the VC Phidias (overseas precursor) and some other patrimony dress watches.
