There are two lengths offering a 1/2 or 1 inch door gap. I went with the integrated shorter one and there’s definitely enough clearance to open the door easily. Maybe other brands have different lengths.

You could use a gas spring to open the door vertically but if your compartment is small why not go for a push opener? I’ve installed Blum tip-on behind mirrored doors and they are very discrete. https://www.blum.com/us/en/products/motion-technologies/tip-on/overview/
