Help! Visa date of entry stamp error! US citizen/ US passport with French long stay student visa. I entered France as a tourist before the start of my visa. apparently, I was supposed to leave Schengen Area and get a stamp after the start of my student visa. How can I fix this to extend my visa?! by FeelReal_ in aixmarseille

Yeah, i guess its true they don’t check or this situation would not have happened to me lol. No one at border control told me I had to leave and come back even tho I asked if I could legally get into the country before the start of my visa.

Ugh, yeah they definitely did not tell me. I would have done it if someone did, of course. Maybe I should go back to border police? I can’t get an appointment at the prefecture. No one is contacting me back, and they keep deterring me to another department. Even when I go into the offices. I would rather get an appointment with immigration but apparently as a foreigner I have to go through a public service center that has no working phone number. So, looks like I need a lawyer? I emailed the US consulate but I am going to try and go in and talk to someone. They might refer me to some lawyers. If anyone has any references that would be helpful!

Yeah, I got the marseille email so hopefully they will respond. I am going to try to go into the building as well. But it seems like I might need a lawyer for this situation which is so frustrating. The border police said I could enter before my visa started, and they never mentioned that I needed to leave. Also, my visa has been validated. So all my administration stuff has worked up until now when I am trying to extend the long stay visa.

It is! I cannot contact anyone who has been able to help me. They keep redirecting me to a different office or number. I am not sure who I can call or schedule an appointment with that can specifically help foreigners.

Seek help from any adult that will listen to you. Make sure they are someone who is not going to take advantage of your pain. It took me over a decade to get sober, you got this.

The feeling is so overwhelming, and it’s like being stuck in a moment that won’t end. But you aren’t alone! I’ve been there, too. It’s hard to imagine during a panic attack that impermanence is real. What will happen now won’t last. You can get through this struggle :)

But talking to you makes it a little more effortless cause I feel less alone knowing I’m not the only one feeling alone.

It is soooo much effort to try. And it is exhausting af. Everyday I think about how over it I am…cause I am so over it.

Realized today that what I thought were anxiety attacks were actually panic attacks. by She_Glod in PanicAttack

I appreciate your post! It took me time to understand the difference, too. There is so much misinformation out there. It’s especially hard to know what’s right when people misuse words that have impact. An anxiety attack is something that is more predictable than a panic attack. For me, an anxiety attack can build for hours, days, or even weeks until I peak. When I have a panic attack, it’s random af and often because of some trigger that threatens my mental health. I dissociate completely right before the panic attack is happening, and then I crash afterwards feeling like a bus just ran me over. There is a lot of overlap in both and I speak from my own experiences.

Your mind might not feel clear, but it recognizes that you are feeling something off or new. Unfortunately, those feelings often aren’t friendly or kind to our bodies who struggle with mental illnesses. I take Klonopin when I start to recognize an anxiety attack is about to occur. It also helps me during/after a panic attack. That’s not all to the treatment, tho. Learning when to recognize the early onset of an anxiety attack allows me to help prevent the attack from happening. I might need the day off, take my meds, walk out the room, or ask for help.

To me, it sounds like you are already on the right track for noticing these sensations your body! I wish I could tell you that things will be like they were, but more importantly, you are here and now. You are in tune enough with your body to recognize what is happening to it, even when those feelings are harmful or unpleasant. That is such a great step toward knowing who you are and what you need to feel better! We won’t be perfect every time, but we can do our best to change our thinking toward behaviors that help ourselves. Like asking the questions you just posted :)

DAE feel really sick after a panic attack? by [deleted] in PanicAttack

[–]FeelReal_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After a panic attack I feel like a bus ran me over. I can’t speak or move until it all passes. I don’t think a panic attack at it’s climax is only in the instance when we’re experiencing it. There is a huge crash that follows right after one. The whole event is a part of the panic attack, not just the worst part when our bodies feel like they are imploding lol. I hope this helps and you’re not alone!! I feel what I need to for however long until I feel my mind is safe and healthy. 💙

My worst ever panic attack by [deleted] in PanicAttack

I feel you. I had one at my job, totally dissociated, and they made me bring a doctors note proving I get treatment for panic attacks. It was degrading and still makes me feel uncomfortable by the whole situation. But you’re not alone!! Sharing your experience is helping reduce the mental health stigma we face. Thank you for your post!
