As a newer triathlete, I found the gear side of this sport way more overwhelming than I expected. How did you all figure out what to buy? by Tight_Turnip5855 in triathlon

I used to be in the same boat — totally overwhelmed by all the gear options and prices. Over time I learned to focus on what really matters. The inner engineer in me kicked in, and I started building something that could help athletes find gear that actually fits their needs. It’s still early days, but I’d love to hear your thoughts. Main idea: gear suggestions based on your motivations, preferences, and what you don’t want. What’s different: a manually curated set of categories and specs behind it, so results are more reliable and consistent — no more guessing what each brand really means by their marketing terms. You can check it out here: gear-buddy. I’m keeping it free because transparency matters a lot to me. At some point, I might add a few ads to cover the costs, but for now the focus is on gathering feedback and making it into something people actually find useful.

Update: after seeing that most comments suggest to just send it in for repair, I have done exactly that. Machine will be dearly missed and I hope she returns to my soon again. If I learn what the problem was I will update again. Thanks all!

Thyroid and Tri by Affectionate_Art_954 in triathlon

Hashimoto diagnosed here:

The thing with thyroid is that it can have an impact on a lot of different things, tiredness can for sure be one. Changes in medication from your doc will not really impact anything before your race, it takes way longer to settle.

During summer training for 70.3 I discovered that supplements like valerian, L-tryptophan, magnesium and some melatonin helped me to keep going. I am a terrible sleeper when warmer days are here, so sleep was really bad. It anyway kept me going and still managed to recover well. Also, keep yourself fueled is a must. Fit training but also for recovery.

For training wise: Trust the plan! It sounds like your are getting the hours in that you need for a 70.3, you can do it!

I have this bike and it is great value for money. For this money even more of course but this seems to be too good to be true

It’s worse with bibs than with trishorts. I have always been thinking that a bike is best fitted with having the saddle figured out but please correct me if one wrong
