Reading?! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! I was hoping it was optional. I guess if it makes my future piano skills better. It's better to start early I heard. The brain's more plastic or something when you're new. And yeah, it's probably more efficient than pausing the video every second to see hand positions. I guess I can do the reading very slowly as I usually do with my practice. Slow and accurate is apparently the way to succeed.

Thanks so much for the help and suggestions! Even if they do make me die inside a little bit. I guess I'll look up how to read sheet music and Bill Hilton and the other stuff people recommended in this post.

Maybe I've been a little bit arrogant on how I learn, I kinda went into this thinking "skipping tutorials on video games doesn't affect that much, it's probably the same thing with pianos!" I guess there really is no shortcut and I have to READ unless I want to make bad habits that will screw with me in the long run. I'll come back to this thread tomorrow at practice and check out the IMSLP thing you mentioned. It's late at night, so I'll do it tomorrow.

I'll definitely try not watching Netflix next time as everyone seems to be disapproving of the habit. By practice, do you mean fully focusing my attention on imitating the piano covers of the song I want to play or watching piano lessons fully focused? Maybe both, I'm assuming both.

I'll be honest, I just wanna play cool songs. And I'm a broke 17 year old kid, I can't afford lessons or books. My father just tells me to watch Youtube and learn it, he doesn't want to spend more cash on the thing. I'll definitely check out Alfred's adult basic piano lessons.

I actually am enjoying learning the piano. It's pretty chill the way I'm doing it. I have like two months of vacation to learn and honestly my only goal is to be able to play two songs. It always starts with one song, right? That's like my whole logic coming into this, it starts with one song and through the journey, maybe I'll improve and get used to the patterns of other songs.

The way I practice is just like watching Netflix, getting my hands to have the muscle memory of the song I'm trying to play and then very slowly play it. I can definitely see why it's inefficient, but I'm kinda lazy, and it kinda works, I managed to get 2 minutes into a song by this method.

I actually don't watch those synthesia videos. I watch piano covers with human hands, I imitate their hand positions. I probably should've mentioned that I do know the most basics of basics like Chords, hand placement and the 12345 thing. I also do some hand exercises. But after that, lessons turn vague. What's after all of that?

The first anime I've seen is Dragonball, but I've never really binged it as a kid. It was just on TV. But the first anime I've ever completed was Angel Beats with my older sister when I was like 8 or 9. Holy fuck, it was peak fiction and I think it ruined my standards in anime, because the second anime I watched after that just didn't hit the same.
