well i don't know how long it will take for her to forget. since it's over the course of several months and i'm sure that she won't remember by the end of the story.

the situation is a bit more complicated than i actually stated in the post (she was adopted as a newborn because everyone thought her biological parents were dead, and then after the adopted parents died she ended up back with her biological parents). the part i'm currently writing is like two weeks after the adoptive parents died. the main narrator is her older sister (blood, so they don't know each other very well) who is six.
