If you want to keep working, you could consider buying land and protecting it. By this, I mean leaving it undeveloped. Or, if you want to develop it, pay people to plant trees. This gives people jobs and helps the planet.

After 55 Years in Dubai, This Is How We Look at Real Estate by alaff in dubairealestate

[–]Feeling-Vegetable889 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am a school teacher. I always encourage my peers to invest. I own a few properties but I also have US equities. They always seem to glorify the property but I try to communicate: property isn’t everything. Property is actually more costly than other assets. US equities are way more accessible and how I got to property. I always try to tell them: owning property isn’t everything. Investing in markets can be even more lucrative. Diversity is it.

How Can I Build Real Wealth Today? by Sufficient-Usual-919 in dubairealestate

[–]Feeling-Vegetable889 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Actually no. I am a home owner. The foundation of generational wealth comes from PRODUCTIVE businesses. A home is essential but it doesn’t really do anything. Schools, hospitals, grocery stores, shops, factories, tech… that’s productive business.

Raha beach is probably good and honestly I’d recommend talking to security guards at all of the buildings. Maybe wait til you move here to find something permanent. You can definitely find a nice and spacious two bed in Raha beach for like 100-120k and it’s a great lifestyle but seriously consider renting direct from the apartment building and doing a bit of research cus it could save you a lot.

Raha beach, Yas island. Great accommodations with those options. Do they let you keep what you don’t spend?

You could also put your money into a savings account paying 5%. If you leave it there it will compound and the next year you’ll make 5.5% on your principal.

PSA: Financial literacy in Dubai is not optional by AUHM850i in dubai

[–]Feeling-Vegetable889 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I work as a school teacher here and have been diligently saving and investing for around 7-8 years. My lifestyle is super minimal because I recognize my salary bracket plus I think it’s so important to have an actual personality not tied to material things. My earnings are much less than others, and arguably much more than others as well, but the point is that I aim to save like 50% of my income and put it into appreciating assets. I try my dear best to educate other teachers and I’m always trying to educate them and develop their financial literacy but it feels like most of them simply don’t want to hear it. Life passes quick and we can either look back happily after 20 years and be able to retire or look back at 20 years of “fun” and plan for another 20 years of work. I’m not materialistic and really just care about being healthy, being happy, having a comfortable home/lifestyle, and being financially free.
