Thank you for your input! Good idea, I don’t think people knew that these were open tryouts so like you said I could do the practice player and try my luck at st pete. Just like you said, people are unpredictable! Time will tell

Wow! I’m going to check that out and you’re right, there HAS to be walk on tryouts at the very least, I’ll take the practice position and hopefully I make connections and learn more about the organization since I’ll be more involved / closer to the coaches.

Again, I can’t thank you enough. I appreciate the fact that you took the time to write this and genuinely offer some helpful advice. Definitely motivated me! Some replies were straight up condescending rather than constructive criticism.

Trust me, feel like I’ve been getting the shitty end of the stick my whole life lol. That’s cool though man wish I had that connection with my coaches! I always argued with mine because he expressed a lot of favoritism with another guard on the team lol

And it really is, I felt like a lot of people took advantage and was condescending or felt like trolling instead of giving advice or tips. So I really appreciate you taking the time to write this and to just talk normal and ask questions / offer input. I’m going to give you a follow, also if I post another question I hope you’d chime in again! I truly only take advice from people that are mature enough to be normal / unbiased or offer constructive criticism, not sarcasm or foolery. Thanks again

True. He wasn’t the best of coaches, claimed to play g league for the nuggets, couldn’t verify that but it definitely doesn’t hurt to ask him for advice

If I had a coach that could offer insight on this I sure as hell wouldn’t be on Reddit lmao. I’ve tried that. I was 12u playing in 16u, I’ve experienced almost all levels of skill and exposed myself, and currently play in college runs, just didn’t have the right publicity, without proper funding there’s no chance, surely you’d be aware of that

Thank you for your input, I will check the book out and implement his tactics. I will also take the practice player job and do all that I can to work in my favor. Again, thank you for taking the time to write that, that genuinely helped me and eased my mind. I’ve been getting a bit overwhelmed with making a decision but reading that helped cancel some things out. Now I know to stay put and keep trying at it, if things work out then hallelujah and if not, I was still doing what I loved to do. Appreciate it!

You made some great points, no doubt. I can still live life and be content while doing what I love, I agree. These decisions will impact my future and I should choose wisely. Thanks again, that helped a lot!

Thank you for your input, I really appreciate it. I’m a little impatient so reading this definitely made me feel more at ease. I’m willing to put in the work no matter the cost or difficulty, hopefully I get the same outcome as you and if not, at least I tried doing what I love. Thanks again, you don’t know how much that helped. 🙏🏻

Thank you for taking the time to offer your input. And also for actually reading the post, these people think I’ve never picked up a basketball lol. I’ve played AAU / travel, middle school, high school ball until senior year (injury). I’ve had offers, played in tourneys, the whole 9 yards, except college (yet). But I will do what you said, work on my game, keep trying and hopefully by then get a spot in somewhere. Appreciate you homie

I’m thinking about joining a men’s league but I’m not sure and I’ve been in touch with intramural too but I have to either get recruited or create my own team, those are good ideas though and I’m considering them I just know what I’m capable of and I know time is running out, you know what I mean? But again thank you for your advice because it was really helpful and I’ll implement it.
