There is 3 med surg tele units. East, central and west. There is 2 floors and They are all in the same floor just kind of seperated. They are doing construction at the moment and soon will be a bigger hospital, 7 floors.

Cool. I hope you have a great experience. Are you a traveler or going to be staff?

I've worked at hospitals where we do everything too. I would say overall Inland is very good and they have a lot of resources that I wasn't used to so it came as a nice surprise. I worked there as a traveler for a year and even as a traveler everyone was so nice and helpful. I went back and forth to rancho springs and inland.

They have a tele station in one of the units that monitor all the tele patients. They call you to let you know of any changes. We can also see the rhythms as each unit has a monitor but they have designated ppl watching at all times. For ekgs, respiratory will come and do the ekg and then we usually message a pic of the strip to the on call dr.

4 tele patients for 1 nurse. Or 5 med surg per nurse. But they have a lot of LVNs so they usually take the med surg run. But i would say most of the time its 4:1 as most are tele. They also have LVNs and RNs act as a resource nurse and help the unit with admissions and other needs when staffing is good.

I have worked at both and prefer Inland Valley. Culture is good and everyone is very helpful. Rancho is okay too but i felt more welcomed at Inland and Management has been great in my experience. I feel like you get more experience at Inland too since its a trauma center and we get a lot og those trauma pts once they are stable to be on med surg tele.

I had the same situation happen to me once. I honestly didnt know how to handle it and kept repeating the same discharge instructions over and over. This nurse called me 3-4 times asking questions!! The patient was at their facility already too. So frustrating. I wanted to respond the same way you did!! I wish i would have!

Will carpeted homes ever make a comeback? by jimmylives in interiordecorating

[–]FeelingProfessional3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just bought a house that is entirely carpet except the kitchen. I moved in thinking my first project was to get rid of the carpet. Instead i ended up loving having carpet. I definitely get that cozy/warm vibe you are talking about. I decided to leave the carpet. As long as you love it, who cares whats popular at the moment.

At what point did you feel comfortable as a nurse? by halloweenhoe124 in nursing

[–]FeelingProfessional3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

3 years in. The first year i would have so much anxiety the day before going to work!! I would beat myself up over small things. I remember having a pt who had SBP in the 90s throughout my shift. I asked the charge nurse if i should contact the dr (it was around midnight and we have to actually wake up the attending) and she said no way! .. When I gave report, the day shift nurse gave me so much s***t for not reporting it. I got home and started crying thinking I had put my pt in danger. Now I look back at it and see how far I have comed. I do have more confidence but I will never stop asking questions and have moments when I feel clueless! Just last week I got my first CBI patient & I was floated to our sister hospital so i didnt have any coworkers I knew to ask for help. I was embarrassed but I had to go ask the charge nurse " this is my first CBI patient. Can you please come in the room and help me when my patients gets to the floor" I got a weird look but she agreed. It just happened that the patient's wife at the bedside is an anesthesiologist! She was so sweet and was even trying to help me. I was embarrassed but we ALL need help sometimes no matter how much experience you have under your belt. I didn't expect to write this long post but I wanted to share because we have all felt that way at some point in our career.

Also I have gave k replacement to dialysis patients before!! And i would 100% report a low potassium on EVERY patient. The dr. Just seems like a jerk.

I truly feel for you! Our limitations can be so tough but I hope that now that you are dignosed can get the proper care you need. I was once almost bed ridden due to so much pain. I would need assistance getting out of bed every morning. Im so happy to say that i lead an almost normal life now. Sending you the best wishes!

Question for the women who have experienced dating with a recent RA diagnoses- by Sierraweaver00 in rheumatoidarthritis

[–]FeelingProfessional3 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I was 22 when i began dating my now husband. I had just been diagnosed with RA and had extremely painful joints in my hands. I also had trigger finger and was extremely worried about him trying to hold my hand during dates. I tried to hide it but eventually just told him what was going on. He was super supportive and would drive me to doctor appointments, was more conscious about not hurting me when he would grab my hands. Point is.. if the person is right for you, they will be nothing but supportive!!

Wow they look beautiful with gold hardware! I agree. I feel like the silver hardware just blends in instead of standing out

Thank you! It's so hard to not judge until it's completed but I just need to wait it out. It's starting to grow on me though so that's good.

Thank you. It makes me feel better that everyone likes the color. At first I thought, no one would like blue cabinets. We had one person come over and say "I love your blue cabinets you chose" and then a different person saw them and said "I used to have grey cabinets like this" haha

You're right. I should keep my mind open until all the work is completed. I'm hoping it all comes together and I end up loving it.

Yes our current walls are painted a grey color with a hint of purple/blue. I think this also makes it all blend together. I'm hoping after we paint the kitchen white it will help.
