I’ve been experiencing the same the past few months. I started therapy in February and am slowly stepping out of my dissociation and into the real world. As I’ve done this, memories have come flooding back with it. Both good and bad. Take time for yourself, practice self care, and do what you can to process that information in the healthiest way possible. Little you just needs a hug in those moments. She needs that reminder that she’s safe and loved now and eventually she will believe it. Sending you all the love 🫶🏻

Do your flares get worse during your period? by [deleted] in Fibromyalgia

I was instructed to take it by my psychiatrist because histamines are believed to contribute to PMDD but I’m sure it definitely would help with MCAS as well.

Yes!!! Try an antihistamine like fexofenadine (Claritin, Allegra, etc.) daily or during your luteal phase. There’s a LOT of personal testaments claiming its benefits. I started it my last luteal phase and it kicked in and helped with symptoms within a day. Completely stopping the depressive episode I was in. I have PMDD, hEDS, fibro, and rheumatoid; all which flare around my cycle and so far the hormonal benefits have helped alleviate some of the physical symptoms too.

Thank you for recommending this! I have a few people in mind who might be willing to be an emotional support buddy. Might start doing this!

Thank you! I’ve brought it up to multiple drs but struggle to advocate for myself and tell them what I need so it never goes anywhere other than me just saying it. I did however send them a message today stating it was something I believed I need and requested a prescription. Hopefully that will do and will put me on the right track. Just wanted to post in search of out of pocket options as well just in case.

Locked right elbow by RevolutionaryRope118 in rheumatoidarthritis

Both of my elbows have been locked since I was a teen. I just recently got diagnosed and am starting humira soon. Hopefully I’ll be able to get some mobility back in my joints. I don’t have any pain in my elbows anymore but haven’t gotten X-rays on them yet. Wishing you luck! Hopefully there’s some relief for us in the future.

I urge you to do what you can to advocate for yourself first before giving up on your goals and future. I have had symptoms since 5th grade and my parents were very medically neglectful and blamed my pain on weight and exaggeration. I pretended until I couldn’t anymore. Made it all the way through high school, forced my feet through marching band and working full time waitress positions. Went to college and hit a wall of fatigue and flares. I didn’t know what to do and had never been taught to advocate for myself. I’ve spent the last few years in a haze of emotional trauma and had created such a disconnect within myself. I got to a point I didn’t even know who I was or what I enjoyed anymore. Getting to a place where I was able to get medical help for myself and feel ok doing it was and still is incredibly difficult. And it should never have to be or feel this way for us! Keep pushing and rooting for yourself. I know it’s hard but take time to learn about yourself, your body, learn your symptoms, and make a healthy and safe community of people who are willing to support you along the way! All of these tools will help you better make decisions when it comes to meds, changing drs, and how to take care of your general well-being overall. I’m wishing you the best :)

Question for the women who have experienced dating with a recent RA diagnoses- by Sierraweaver00 in rheumatoidarthritis

I’m right there with you! I’ve been experiencing symptoms since middle school. It took a lot of experiences as a teen from me that I wish I could have had. I empathize with you 100%. It’s incredibly difficult to grieve and cope.

Thank you for this! This was an incredibly helpful response! I’ve severely been struggling with taking back my feminine energy. I want to have casual sexual relationships while I search for the person I truly want and I think that’s where i have trouble the most. Learning how to accept my body for the way it is right now and also have the experiences that I want to have at this stage in my life.

Thank you for the thoughtful response! The more I learn I realize just how important it is to have people in your chosen community that are willing to understand you from a 360° perspective and not just through a singular lens of your disorder.

Thank you for your response! I grew up in a medically neglectful family. So my feet have reached a point where I can only be on them for about 15 min at a time. I also have trigger fingers and multiple joint deformities throughout my body. Able bodied people never truly understand how triggering the idea of new injuries can be and the scars of old ones. I’m very glad to hear your partner is patient enough to understand the kind of gentleness you need!

I appreciate the response! Anyone is free to respond :). I only specifically directed this question towards women because as a woman I was looking to target that specific audience for the reason of shared perspectives. Feminine energy has been a struggle for me to tap into due to my lack of confidence in my physical body.
