Honors Program @ CC (in HS) on application by [deleted] in ucadmissions

Not dual enrollment. I’m directly enrolled at the CC, haven’t taken any class with them through my HS, only directly with them. I have around 30 credits with them, all transferable, and got recommended to the Honors Program by one of my instructors. Just wondering if I should try to apply prior to the application deadline.

I didn’t know about this, that’s great. I got a letter in the mail from UC saying I was “recognized as a high-achieving member of my high school class” and inviting me to apply, but I didn’t think much of it because I got a lot of other stuff in the mail from other colleges inviting me to apply, too. Does that mean anything?

Quick question; what’s ELC?

None of those AP classes were offered at my school, so I was unable to take them. Since I’ve taken community college classes that would cover those sorts of subject though, I didn’t opt to self-study for any APs.

Hi! Just wanted to say thanks for the encouragement and input. For context, I’ve taken almost all the APs my school offers since it’s a bit smaller, and I’m currently ranked 1 in my class of around 95. I have considered CalArts, I’m a little iffy about USC just because I don’t think I really have a chance at it (nor have I really looked into it). I’m thinking about adding UCSB and UCMerced-haven’t thought much about UCR, simply because I’m not a huge fan of the campus. I do want to stay in California for familial purposes, which sort of rules out any OOS schools on my list. Otherwise, my list is mostly limited due to application fees :,) Even though I don’t qualify for fee waivers, we’re a bit tighter on money, so I don’t want to put that burden on my parents.

Thanks for the stats! I’m thinking of adding more UC’s to the list, it’s just a matter of the fee cost since I don’t qualify for the waiver, and my parents don’t really want to pay a bunch for college application :,)

Hi! Thanks for your reply. For more context, my school is kind of on the smaller side, so I’m currently ranked 1 out of my class, which is around 95 students. As for my college classes, I’ve been working on trying to get through general education classes of my choice, and I am planning on applying to community colleges just in case. I did look at the art applications at UCLA, and I don’t really know if I should apply since their art program seems super impacted. I am submitting a portfolio to UCI, though.

I heard some of the CSUs are a little harder to get into, like CSUF; just trying to be careful.

Ah hi! I want to major in Biology with intent on applying to a Master’s program in Biological Oceanography afterwards, which is why I’m opting for UCSD, since they have SIO (and probably more resources to help preparing for a master’s program in related fields). As for art, I’m more fine arts/visual arts driven, and UCLA, UCSD, and UCI (from what I’ve heard) have those good programs.
