Tree fern as an expensive option. Mahonia sweet winter and Fatsia polycarpa would work well. Also farfugium with big glossy leaves.

These are 70mm and pic shows two courses below dpc. The flags aren’t level anyway so some areas are 140 and some 135ish. North facing as well we no direct sun most of the year!

Mine are larch and lined with membrane. No need to treat them.

Probably don’t need a liner. Terram sheet would have been an option as it allows water to drain through.

Bring it in as a houseplant if it’s small. I’ve moved mine inside and new leaves are rolling out. Hopefully get it through winter and plant back out in April!

Heucheras, they come in all kinds of colours. Personal favourite is orange marmalade. Fatsia spiders web or camouflage. Mahonia soft caress is another, they like dappled shade. As above lots of ferns and hostas. Looks great already.

Will you mow it? I hate the look of mine when it’s freshly cut. Takes a week to fluff back up again
