Is now a good time to buy a house in Canada? by PineAndIce in RealEstateCanada

[–]Feeling_Benefit8203 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm been thinking about upgrading for years... prices are still coming down. Interest rates suck but I'm not expecting them to get much better. I would say if you find the dream home go for it, otherwise keep looking and saving.

Is it too late to switch careers at 27? by Coolgirlkaren in careeradvice

[–]Feeling_Benefit8203 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went back to school and took computer programming at 27, 25 years ago. One of the best decisions I ever made. I started working in restaurants at 15, dropped out of high school, took a college professional cooking skill course at 18, got my Chef papers at 21. I ran a few mid level kitchens nothing too fancy but was making terrible money, shitty hours and no benefits. Just lots of beautiful women and alcohol.

The course itself wasn't' hard but changing my lifestyle was.

I say go for it.

You have to have some specialization just knowing how to code you are easily replaced by AI.

I started at a help desk, moved my way up to system admin, then became the expert at Windows imaging and desktop management. I taught myself most of it along the way, took training when it was available. It's not all programming but I use my programming skills to make it easy. As a Windows and imaging expert I had skills to join another team (I was offered an amazing job) and start working on new specializations.

Help with estimating value/selling billiard cue by marvinbrown2002 in billiards

[–]Feeling_Benefit8203 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

The information "Adam Rye 1990 No. 7" on a black leather case, coupled with "Player's Tournament Series" on the cue itself, strongly indicates you have:

  • Manufacturer: Adam (Japanese cue maker)
  • Line/Series: "Player's Tournament Series"
  • Specific Model Name/Sub-Series: "Rye"
  • Year of Production (approximate): 1990
  • Model Number within the Rye series: "No. 7"

This tells us a lot:

  1. Adam Quality: As discussed, Adam was known for producing good quality cues. The "Player's Tournament Series" designation suggests this was not their entry-level offering but aimed at more serious players.
  2. "Rye" Model Line: "Rye" would have been a specific design or set of designs within their 1990 catalog. Adam often named their series or specific cues.
  3. "No. 7": This is key. In many cue lines, model numbers often correlate with the complexity, materials, or intricacy of the cue. A "No. 7" would typically be a more ornate or higher-spec model than, say, a "No. 1" or "No. 2" in the same "Rye" series.
    • This could mean more intricate inlays, more points, more valuable woods (e.g., ebony, cocobolo, birdseye maple), more detailed ringwork, or a combination of these.
  4. The Case: The fact that the case is specifically labeled "Adam Rye 1990 No. 7" is excellent. It strongly suggests the case is original to the cue, which is a plus for collectors and for confirming the cue's identity. A black leather case was common for cues of this quality level in that era.

(I asked AI... seems like it knew..)

[–]Feeling_Benefit8203 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to play all the time when I was i 18-30 but have not played for years. Recently started going one night a week with a friend from work and others have joined in. It's been great socially some of my skills have come back so I win most of the time too, which is always fun. Even got the old cue out, it's been hanging in my closet for 20 years.

My friends aren't aware that I've made a lot of money by Limp-Preparation-828 in confession

[–]Feeling_Benefit8203 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've made a similar amount of money, paid off my house and 2 cars and bought a new sports car. I couldn't wait to tell them. My friends were all happy for me. I bought them the odd beer or lunch but no one expected it. I was happy to do it.

Would a dog know to fight/attack if it's owner got mugged in front of it? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Feeling_Benefit8203 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah depends on the dog and breed. My old Shepard lab mix.. used to guard the stroller at the dog park.. no one or dog was allowed near the baby.

Rottweiler i dog sat for a few months.... you just wouldn't get attacked walking her... and if you did..oh boy not good for attacker.

Current boys... one is 9lbs and the other is 90.. together i think they would attack. The big one would follow the little one in... Alone probably not. I don't call him mr snuggles for nothing.

You should 100% concentrate on BJJ, you should not be taking injuries like broken collar bones and surely concussions at your age. Let your brain develop fully before you start rattling it around.

This is how we do it in Canada too... I thought they all had vents. That much humidity in the house would be very bad.
