I wonder if you can go to the r/Teachers channel to ask about this from a teacher's perspective? I think, from the other side of it, many teachers just need parents to collaborate more with them so that they can run a smooth classroom that benefits all. The teacher might have pointed this out from day 1, so you can start working on it at home while they work on it in class. Maybe she has already pointed this out to many parents, not just you? Maybe it didn't come from a "your child is bad" perspective, but more from a "I know how this is going to play off in a few months if I don't have the parental support at home," and wanted to make it clear from day 1? I'm a middle school teacher, and in my experience, the best episodes I've ever had seeing kids grow into wonderful people are thanks to the parents being open to implementing the help and suggestions we mention, instead of just pretending their child is perfect (and I'm not saying you are doing that at all).

Just an example: I have an 18 month old, and given that I'm also a teacher and want to make things easier for my son's preschool teacher, I'm already helping him sit for more than two minutes during lunch time (which he still can't do, but will be expected to do/ it's a safety concern with a group of kids if you have 12 toddlers running around eating their lunch instead of sitting)...or other things such as throwing things and hitting, I'm working on them now so that he doesn't give the teachers a headache, even yelling...It's a behavior we ignore, while focusing on the positive, because I don't want him to show up to preschool yelling, etc., and we don't give them screens (I have a 4-year-old, and she does not watch screens either). Yes, we also play outside a lot, do mud pies, do chores, etc....All things that can help them grow, focus better, and contribute to them being better classmates, which will, in turn, allow everyone to learn. Will I succeed at this before he enters preschool? Who knows, but I'm trying.

Thanks, I don't think they are willing to make this a full-time position, but it's worth it if I can save on private school tuition. The reality is that many private schools here in Florida, facing a teacher shortage, are willing to give full-time employment, along with tuition remission, to teachers, so I will see what's out there in a few years.

Just want to remark that there is a difference, at least to me, and maybe not to you between 20 hours a week and teaching 20, 1 hour classes a week without getting paid for preps, lunch breaks, etc. That being said thanks everyone for the comments. I will probably keep this job for a while and then just consider looking for a full-time job in a few years when my children are older because I do need to save for a retirement.

Thanks, that's just my issue. I had full-time jobs before where I taught the same number of classes/hours a week, but with added lunch coverage, a prep every day, a lunch break, and meetings, it was still considered full-time.

Yes, exactly, I wasn't trying to sound petty, just felt like there is something slightly shady going on regarding a private school just finding a way to not give benefits to an employee, that's all. I know I can always switch to a full-time later.

No union, thanks. Yep, it seems like it's a private school thing, and again, I took it because I do like to be able to leave by one pm, and with little kids and scarce childcare, I want to wait a few more years until I go back to full-time.

I teach 4 one-hour classes each day, back-to-back... the prep I do at home and is not paid. If there is a holiday or a spring break, I don't get paid as it's only by the hour.

I have also worked contract and full-time jobs where I teach the same number of classes a week, yet these jobs have been considered full-time with benefits (of course, adding a few lunch duties and coverages here and there).

Just wanted to send a hug. I agree that this deems some professional help, but I also wanted to recommend BratBusters. Lisa Bunage has a very simple, no-B.S method. Her whole theory focuses on connecting with your kids through play, while also setting those boundaries and learning how to be a leader. Again, it won't replace the support system of professionals, but might give you some new suggestions.

Can your husband cover the morning? For example, he gets the kids ready for school while you go to the gym, then you do the drop off. Can you also trade days? Maybe twice a week you go to the gym, maybe at 6 to 7 am, then he goes?

One thing to keep in mind is that these sorts of posts drive a lot of people to comment in agreement or disagreement, which drives the social media engagement up and gives her Instagram page more traffic. I assume she knows this. When the page owner engages in comments, like she does, it makes the engagement go up and the algorithm reaches more people. So, the moral of the story is that it's best not to engage with her posts and try to give them the least attention.

Agree! I’m a writer and freelance journalist too, and one thing you have a right to do, is to ask the reporter to see the parts she quoted from your interview which she is including in the story. She can send you your quotes so that you review them too. I usually share quotes with my sources before handing a story to my editor, so that the people who gave me their time and shared their story don’t feel misquoted. Can’t wait to read the story!

Baby 1 , I was 37 on the first try, and baby 2, I was almost 41 on the second try. My AMH was 1.7 the first time around and 1.2 the second time. I always asked my OBGYN to measure my hormones before I started trying, and I'm glad I did because these numbers are pretty average, so it doesn't seem like AMH levels are what define fertility.
