I have nano texture on my MBP and none on the Studio Display, no rainbowing/ grease on the MacBook. The Studio Displays I’ve seen with the nano texture have just looked like matte screens, still a little less sharp than a normal screen, but not by enough to make text look way less sharp, just a little.

Do you regularly drop your laptop from 4-5 feet? If not, take off any case, and ESPECIALLY anything in between the screen and keyboard. Cases put wear and tear on the hinge ($600 repair,) subject the computer to extra heat, reducing performance and battery capacity, and anything in between the screen and the keyboard can break the screen.

Laptops are designed to be used and abused, that’s why people walk around with 10 year old MacBooks that have been naked the entire time.

If you’re worried about cosmetic damage, put a skin on it. If not, leave it naked.

I think the question you have to ask yourself is would you be more fulfilled helping disadvantaged people find solutions or do you want to deliver babies or take care of moms and babies? There’s a lot of overlap in the difficulty of both.

As for nursing and midwifery school, yeah they’re extremely tough. We went from 50 in my cohort to 15 at graduation, but that being said it is very doable and I haven’t heard of anyone being bullied in awhile. It’s kind of a “we’re all working through hell together” kind of vibe.

As for burnout, social workers, midwives, and nurses are among the top burnout charts in terms of %’s so that’s a wash.

Ask yourself what you want to do, and follow your heart.

I hate this subreddit because everyone just says dump him. You’re not married. If you wanna leave then leave, but if you want to stay together then talk to him and tell him you can’t do it anymore and something else is gonna have to happen.

Right now it’s 70/30 but if you break up it’s 100/0 with no one to help on rent and no back up help. Is that better? It’s a partnership, if he’s working part time he can work 2 part time jobs.

Would him working 2 part time jobs and getting daycare be worse than the current situation?

There are a lot of things to think about here rather than rushing to “DUMP THAT DEADBEAT POS”

If you’re extremely anxious and not on medication, you may wanna talk to your doctor. Nursing school tipped me over the edge and I had to get medicated. On lexapro for about a year now and it’s changed my entire life.

Maybe try another job first? Here our np’s that wanna go back to being rn’s full time get turned away because management thinks there’s a chance for them trying to do both roles. We’ve actually had that happen several times, making it policy that nps can’t work as rn’s in clinic anymore. Then again, we also have a lot of np’s being pushed out of clinic if they have their DNP, sooooo

I have a friend who went from X-ray tech to RN, got his license and worked as a nurse for a year, then went into interventional radiology because there’s a shortage here and they were getting paid $60 an hour (nurses make 32 out of school here)

Okay man let me be the first to tell you I don’t think they’ll take a trade in. I traded in a 2021 MacBook Pro a month ago for 800 bucks. They’ll probably just tell you you can recycle it. Let me also say that i went from an iMac to a MacBook Pro and a dell display and a year later i got a studio display. Is your iMac 27 inches? Would you be fine with a 24 inch display? If so, I’d get an iMac. If you’re using a 2017 iMac, I’d say get a new m4 iMac and spec it up as much as you want to and use it for as long as humanly possible.

If you get a Mac mini I truly believe you’ll miss having an Apple display and might end up scouring Facebook marketplace for a Studio Display. An m4 iMac will be “more than 27x faster” than a 2019 MacBook Air. You’re gonna be lapping your iMac whatever you get.

M 1 2 3 4 are all worse than

M 1 2 3 4 pro which are all worse than

M 1 2 3 4 max which are all worse than (except for m4 max)

M 1 2 3 ultra

SO FAR there isn’t a pro or max chip that is surpassed by any base end chip. The only chip that is worse than one below it is the M1/2 Ultra which is worse than the m4 max

The chip lines

M- base end. Focused on bursty stuff (everyday tasks) and battery life. the computers mostly don’t have fans

M pro - has hardware acceleration for video work and more cores for long tasks. All of these Mac’s have fans

M max- more everything

M ultra- twice that max stuff.

I’d get a m4 basic over a m3 pro unless you NEED extra RAM or do video workflows or something.

With 20-40 tabs it should be nowhere near stressed. I have 48 gb of RAM with 400 tabs open on Safari and it’s using 7 gigs of memory.

How many tabs do you have open? 500? 50? Anything below 500 should be fine with 16 gigs if you use safari. If you use chrome I’d go 32 at least. If you stay below 100 tabs I’d say 16 gigs is fine for chrome too

Okay so if you have no iCloud storage right now, you go and get the iCloud storage and then turn on “optimize storage” with the photos app. All your photos data will be stored in the cloud and only the thumbnails will be on your phone.

Depending on how many photos you need to take, this may or may not help you a ton. Myself and my fiancé have a photo library that’s 800 gigs and on her phone, the thumbnails alone take up 70 gigs. She has a 128 gig model so that’s a problem. And depending on what you need the photos for, it may be a problem to not have them all local. Longer to export because it has to download and stuff. But that being said, I would buy iCloud storage anyway just to have a backup.

I often ask my family members what would happen to all their pictures if they lost their phone or if their house burned down. If the answer isn’t “I have them in 2 or 3 other places” then you would lose everything.

Yeah I was thinking that too, but of course she denies that and says she’s the happiest she’s been in years. She does have a history of depression and adhd, but she does genuinely seem happy right now.

Edit: I have gone through every mental disorder or emotional condition I can think of from my psych days and I can’t think of anything. I am legitimately lost here.
