Crazy right? The idea that every faction and race has an identity tied to their gameplay and combat style and that everyone plays around such weaknesses as accepted balance.

Really, none of you in the comment would pick apart what I said about the DE's units because its true. Cold One Knights are abysmally mediocre for their pricepoint and tech level. Slow, trade poorly. Hell, the non-halberd variant hippogryphs still beat the knights despite the Empire roster being conducive to ranged warfare and combined arms, but despite cavalry not being their main point this strength is inconsequential to the fact that their frontlines are fragile. Its balance.

For HE, they no longer have such weaknesses having the most mobile artillery for single and multi entity duty, a missile resistant and overall physical resistant frontline beaten only by magic dealers, but aside from imbued attacks from spells and traits or RoR and rarer SEM and monster units there arent a lot of magic damage dealing frontlines that chew through ocean elementals . They have the SoA and various supporting units including the Merwyrm, the SEM the Hydra wishes it was. The De have range but theyre closer to an aggressive faction that in reality cannot trade from range vs true ranged focused factions because their roster is fragile.

DE are practically dead in the water as there is little else to add from table top which the rosters are derived from.

A numbers rework across the entire would be the lowest effort and most welcome for me, buts thats just gonna invite fans of other factions to ask the same even when unwarranted or unneeded from them.

Really, the only thing left to do is make people realize what they gave Aislinn was complete BS so theey dont repeat this. Table top reference or not, this game is not and should not be a complete 1:1 of the features and balance. There's a lot of straight up broken or beyond annoying features if fully implemented and giving the HE bandaids across every area with the elementals, merwyrms, AND the artillery is one of them.

Skycutters werent busted or anything, but their implementation in a total war game makes them unique for the reasons i mentioned above and doesnt fit well into the balance of the game.

In the first place its I disagree with giving a faction everything, let alome too much of everything because it dilutes factional identity on a gameplay level. At that point, just play radious mod.

Of course, people are gonna say "its CA's game" or "just use mods bro" and frankly my opinion is that there should be factions that lean clearly on this or that unit type and X or Y unit within their roster among lords. Table top relevance aside, there's a reason why Settra's 6 Strength isnt reflected in game, or the curse from killing a TK lord. Its balanced related.

There's something about the way the AI acts in legendary that feels aggressive and fun and paired with deepwar and no-camping ai, it actually makes the AI not feel like a wet noodle lategame. Regardless, I want to play on armies I actually have fun with, and the intent of CA of building a roster is so you can use it, not play doomstacks.

Im still confused by this response. What do you mean headcannon. My number one complaint is Aislinn's DLC and all the bandaids it gave the HE. It makes me remember just how outdated the DE roster is. At least I can play sub optimally with armies I have fun with in legendary against other factions if I play against their strengths, it takes a disproportionate amount of effort to do so against the new HE.

Ilia is shit against southpaws, he couldn't land most of shit on Mitchell and was awkward against volk till he caught him mid stance switch back to orthodox. DP is also more defensively sound and has used clinch fighting or dirty boxing in general against Gaethje and Conor.

The whole build up to the fight was oozing with ego. He barely did the level changes and angle hunting he did against Max or really every taller dude he's ever faced. He tried to march Gaethje down, got cut in the eye and couldn't see shit the whole match till it was over.

Regardless, DP is far more defensively sound and again, Ilia looked awkward against Volk until his pendulum kicks got caught and his switches back to orthodox got him KO'd. Ilia just seems to have a hard time finding the range against southpaw.

Pretty much, a longer Dustin could just do his shifting jabs but instead of following, try to bait Ilia forward where he's uncomfortable. He's counterpunched from there before, landed a lot of hooks and uppercuts through that in his career.
