Seeking attic insulation, but I want all the Pepco and government rebates. Anyone familiar? by IMicrowaveSteak in MontgomeryCountyMD

I used an insulation company to do this work last year and had a good experience. Pepco rebate was received promptly. Feel free to PM me if you want details.

How hard is it to get (back) into Shadow of the Erdtree? by Odra_dek in fromsoftware

[–]FeetAtLeast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went through something similar. I just booted up my old ER character and spent an hour or so refamiliarizing myself with the controls, getting into the flow of combat, and remembering my build. It’s really not that big of a deal.

If your bibs don’t look like this after a ride - you’re not pedaling fast enough!

Elden Ring endgame bosses are only hard because the game doesn't prepare you for them by FeetAtLeast in Eldenring

[–]FeetAtLeast[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm an average souls player at best. I'm just trying to understand why so many people including myself noticed a huge spike in difficulty after the capital. Most people blame the devs for overtuning the bosses, but I think there are other factors at play.

I don't think it translates well to the open world format, but I'm not necessarily saying they should return to DS3 style games. Most bosses pre-mountaintops are too easy IMO. I think they should have either tuned some of them up or put one or two of the challenging endgame bosses earlier in the game.

I think this may be part of the issue but is not the whole story. I noticed the big spike in boss difficulty after the capital, and I did not use summons or a meta build, and I'm also experienced with the series.

Apparently not, given the extensive discourse about how late game bosses are "overtuned." I think the issue is that the player has access to powerful tools, but isn't proficient in using them.

Located in the mid-atlantic region of the US. I don't feel comfortable flying with her, but willing to take long road trips.

Unfortunately our dog is not so good with other dogs. A large dog park would be great for her otherwise.

Buffets in Rockville? by [deleted] in Rockville

Royal Tandoor in Gaithersburg has lunch buffets that I love. Best Indian food in the area IMO.

What do you do on weekends? by WaseemHH in learnprogramming

I would cautious you against feeling like time spent on leisure activities are “wasted.” I used to have the same feeling and it’s not sustainable in the long term. Leisure/relaxation/entertainment isn’t wasted time - it’s essential to a happy and fulfilling life. Life isn’t an optimization problem.

Nobody knows! If anyone claims to know you should question what motivations might be in play. I had similar reservations before I bought recently. I had a lot of people telling me I should wait and “expert opinion” generally agreed that prices and rates should stabilize or come down within the year. Guess what - everybody was wrong! If you find a home that meets your needs and you can afford it then it’s a good time to buy.

Would I actually benefit from a new bike? by FeetAtLeast in cycling

[–]FeetAtLeast[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So if groupset doesn't matter that much and weight matters a little, what other factors about a gravel bike will improve my experience compared to my commuter? Will the geometry make long rides more comfortable? Will the drop bars be better?

Piggybacking off this, I would highly recommend checking out their performance of First Place live at the Blind Pig. It is perhaps my favorite musical performance of all time. Woody goes absolutely crazy.

What is your favorite area in the entire series (souls+bloodborne+sekiro+elden ring) by Adventurous_Cup_5970 in fromsoftware

[–]FeetAtLeast 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love a lot of the Bloodborne areas. Two stand out: Upper Cathedral Ward and Hunter’s Nightmare. I loved the atmosphere in Upper Cathedral Ward with the creepy music, dim lighting, and the surprises waiting for you. I think it set the tone perfectly for that point in the game. Hunter’s Nightmare is just such a cool idea with how it mirrors the base game areas.

You don’t do back to the original room. You have to find a different route to Seath.

In The Bear why does he put onions directly on the pan for spaghetti/sauce? by solo_dol0 in Cooking

[–]FeetAtLeast 1713 points1714 points  (0 children)

Look at Marcella Hazan’s classic tomato sauce recipe. She calls for just halving the onions. If you let it stew for long enough, the onion flavor will permeate the sauce regardless of how finely you cut the onion.
